Welcome to the 2018 Gulf Coast Association of Geological Societies and Gulf Coast Section of the Society of Economic Paleontologists and Mineralogists annual convention in Shreveport, Louisiana.

2 The Shreveport Geological Society, founded in 1924, is honored and proud to be hosting the convention for the ninth time in the entire GCAGS-GCSSEPM history dating back to 1951. Our local committee chairmen have worked diligently for the past three years to provide you today with a quality, well informed, modern technological program and we hope you take full advantage of the enjoyable educational and networking opportunities herein. Almost all events and programs are located on the second floor of the Shreveport Convention Center for your convenience. Enclosed in this program are technical session topics, locations, and times for the scheduled 66 oral and 40 poster presentations, and other events.

3 You will find numerous topics of interest, ranging from a Gulf Deepwater session to a critical assessment of the Unconventional Shale plays now dominating our industry. An outstanding session on Climate Change will evaluate trends and concepts affecting us for future generations (What Have We Done to Our Planet?). Field studies along with technological advances topics including Artificial Intelligence will be offered for your assessment. Take advantage of the outstanding speakers we have during our lunches and breakfasts, who will evaluate global hydrocarbon trends, industry directions, and your planned personal career advancements.

4 A daily free breakfast is offered in the exhibit hall, which is filled with industry vendors wishing to advertise their new products to help your company grow. Enjoy our Sunday night icebreaker networking event complete with a band for entertainment. Our premier social event, the dinner featuring Wines of Burgundy, France will be held Monday night at the Petroleum Club, only three blocks away from the hotel. Come join this educational event to see how geology affects your personal tastes.
