1 Halifax Highland Dancing Association 2018 HHDA Teacher scholarship HHDA is pleased to offer a $ Highland Dance Teacher scholarship . These scholarships are available to HHDA members who have passed a professional exam in 2017 or are currently preparing to take a professional exam in 2018 . Completion of exam must be done by December 31, 2018 . 2018 HHDA Teacher scholarship Eligibility and Guidelines 1. Applicant must be a current member of HHDA and have also been a member in 2016/2017. 2. Applicants must be enrolled during the school and/or college year in weekly dance classes with a certified ScotDance teacher or must be teaching weekly dance classes.
2 3. Applicant is not eligible to receive the scholarship in consecutive years. 4. Any scholarship monies should be used for the personal advancement of Highland Dancing , and will be paid directly to the applicant. 5. No parent/teacher with scholarship applicants will sit on the Selection Committee. 6. Application and Teacher Certification page must be received by March 9, 2018 . 7. To be eligible for this scholarship , the applicant must have made commitments to HHDA and these commitments must be within the 2016/2017 and/or 2017/ 2018 membership years. These commitments must include: Volunteering at HHDA events 2018 HHDA Teacher scholarship Application Process Please submit a neatly handwritten or typed copy of your application.
3 Be sure to include the following 6 sections in your application: Section 1: On a separate cover page please provide the following information: Applicant s full name, address, telephone number and birth date. (To ensure your application is judged without bias, this page will not be visible to the Selection Committee). Section 2: Indicate your commitment to HHDA. Describe any volunteering you have done at HHDA events. Section 3: Outline your Highland Dancing Career. Please indicate whether you are an active member of any dance troupes, achievements that you have accomplished, any competitions, performances at various locations such as schools, hospitals, Tattoo, BATD Festival, etc.
4 Include the reason that you take/teach Highland Dancing and the number of years of active participation. Section 4: Why do you think you deserve this scholarship ? Section 5: What are your future plans? What are your future plans with Highland Dance? How long do you plan on living in the Halifax area? Section 6: Include a teacher s certification form with your application (if applicable).
