As one of our hundreds of goodwill ambassador volunteers you play a key role in ensuring quality customer service and a satisfying concert-going experience for our patrons. This booklet will provide you with important information to ensure proper training and preparation to be helpful, courteous, and kind to each other and all our guests.

3 Usher scheduling for all San Diego symphony Orchestra concerts is coordinated by designated Usher team captains and House Managers. Rental events are assigned by House Managers. All ushering assignments are requested and assigned via internet access. On this site you have the opportunity to manage your Usher schedule online, sign up for concerts and/or place yourself on Waiting Lists for a variety of rental events, and manage your contact information ( change email address, physical address, and/or phone numbers). Select events (rental shows, youth concerts) will be assigned by the House Manager.

5 The Usher website may be accessed directly ( ) or by clicking on the Volunteer link at the San Diego symphony webpage ( ). By using the username and password assigned to you when you register on the Usher website you will be able to sign up for all events online, add yourself on waiting lists for events of interest, view the calendar of future events, manage your Usher schedule, change personal contact information, access interesting links, and download useful information. You must use your username and password before you can make full use of the site. It is your responsibility to register on the website and manage your information. Your username and password will always be included at the end of all e-mails we send to you, along with the name of your team captain and their contact information. 9 Enter your user name and password Step 3 To Sign Up: Click on the Sign Up link (left side of website page) Scroll to event(s) for which you wish to Usher (if it doesn t appear here go to the Waiting List link). Sign up by checking the box on the left of the event(s) of interest Scroll to bottom of page and click Submit button If you forget to Submit, your request will not be processed! If the comment next to event says Waiting List, please go to the Waiting List and click the box to the left of the event and scroll to bottom and click Submit Step 4 Verify: Click on My Account to verify that your requests for shows are listed in either the My Schedule or My Waiting List section.

10 Step 5 Waiting List: The Waiting List is used when you cannot sign up for shows directly but want to express your desire to work the event. If you are shifted from the My Waiting List to My Schedule you will receive an e-mail confirmation of this change as well as change of status on the My Account page. Always verify your schedule by visiting the "My Account" page. If you are on the My Waiting List please make sure you are available to Usher that date. If you will not be available, be sure to remove yourself by clicking the cancel box and Submit. Step 6 Cancel/Remove: Access My Account , click the box next to the event to be cancelled, in either the My Schedule or My Waiting List sections, go to the bottom of the page, and click Submit.
