5 During the study (full-time and covers a period of three (3) years) attention is given to the perceptual-motoric, physiological, psychological and biomechanical principles which are relevant when humans participate in physical application of different measurement methods and exercise to improve achievement ability, evaluation and treatment of sport injuries, improvement of Health and quality of life, as well as movement skills form part of the Human Movement Science as one of the two (2) major subjects a student can obtain a BA or BSc degree (see BSc programs elsewhere in this booklet).Objective of the curriculum: To enable students to assist sportsmen/sportswomen scientifically with applicable evaluation of sport achievement Manner of presentation and duration of programme:This program is done full-time over a period of 3 yearsAdmission to postgraduate studies:On successful completion of the diploma, a student can apply for admission into a BA degree within Health Sciences if he/she takes the compulsory extra modules with specialisation in Human Movement completion of the BA degree the student qualifies for the same opportunities as any other graduate student with Human Movement Science as major subject.

6 Students with this qualification may also apply for the Honors in Health SciencesThe following three (3) curriculums are presented in the program BA Health Sciences : Human Movement Science and Psychology (Program code for application form: 100167: G301P)potential, the compilation of general sport conditioning programs, training in some kinds of sport, sport talent identification as well as the organisation and administration of sport; To give students the knowledge and skills to inform people about exercise that can prevent disease; To analyse body composition with regard to Health ; and To help in cases of basic medical emergencies and injuries. Career possibilities: Sport scientist; Sport organiser; Sport administrator; Fitness instructor; Exercise expert; and Movement to postgraduate studies:EducationStudents who are interested in education can obtain a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).

7 Enquire at the Faculty of Education Sciences about admission and programsSuccessful completion of both the BA or BSc programs enables students to make use of the opportunity to apply for one applicable honors programs (specialising in Biokinetics, Kinderkinetics or Sport Science).Admission to this program is subject to a selection process at the end of the third year as well as available capacity in the subject biokineticist aspires to improve participants Health and physical wellbeing by means of scientifically compiled and individual-aimed exercise programs. Rehabilitation programs are presented for persons with clinical diagnosed problems like cardiorespiratoric, orthopaedic, hypokinetic, metabolic, psycho-emotional problems, completion of the specialisation program, the student must acquire experience in an accredited Biokinetics practice for one (1) year before full registration as a Biokineticist can be completed at the Health Professions Council of South persons in this field work with young children usually between the ages of three to twelve years.

The focus is especially on the development of life skills and the empowerment of people to use and apply these skills in different walks of (2) BA curriculums with Recreation Science as major subject, namely Recreation Science and Psychology and Recreation Science and Tourism Management are of these curriculums: To empower the student with applicable theoretical knowledge and practical skills to enter the labour market as entrepreneur or employee of organisations in the field of Recreation Science; To produce qualified expertise for South Africa that can lead the way with regard to the empowerment of the community in order to improve wellbeing, life skills and effective leisure time lifestyle.

10 To plan, develop, implement, facilitate and evaluate services with regard to the development and improvement of achievement ability in sport. The contribution extends from the identification and development of new sport talent at a young age, to the testing and scientific optimisation of elite sportsmen and sportswomen s achievement potential in order to assist the trainer in his/her sport scientist s work includes: Sport physiological evaluation of achievement potential; Scientific sport specific exercise program design and guidance aimed at individuals; Sport talent identification; Sport psychological evaluation, guidance and motivation; Sport nutrition; Sport biomechanics and administration; and Sport successful completion of the honors degree also gives the student the opportunity to apply for selection for MA of MSc degrees with specialisation in Biokinetics, Kinderkinetics, Sport Science and a PhD degree.
