Heart-Healthy Snacks - Department of Health
Avoid “Empty” Calories Snacks like regular soft drinks, salty chips, candy and baked goods have a lot of calories. They usually also have added sugars, high levels of sodium, or saturated and trans fats. But they often lack the essential nutrients that are good for the body, making the calories “empty.” So eat them only occasionally.
