The questions below will help you to understand if you are eligible to apply to go on the Housing Register , or not. Non British / UK Nationals Are you a UK citizen? If the answer is yes, have you arrived or returned to the UK within the last two years? If your answer is yes, you will require a habitual residency test. Are you an EU / EEA Citizen or not a British National? If your answer is yes to either of these, you will require an eligibility test Residency qualification Have you lived within the Nottingham City boundary for three out of the last five years? If your answer is no, you will need to refer to AND you must meet one of these exceptions: Exceptions of need to fulfil residency are: Existing tenants of Nottingham City Council or existing tenants of Nottingham HomeLink partners who live within the City boundary.

2 Applicants who have been accepted for priority re- Housing as a reciprocal arrangement with another Local Authority or Registered Provider. Members of HM Regular forces and those who were discharged from HM regular forces with the five years preceding an allocation of social Housing . Bereaved spouses or civil partners of those serving in the regular forces, where (i) the bereaved spouse or partner has recently ceased, or will cease to be entitled, to live in Ministry of Defence accommodation following the death of their service spouse or civil partner, and (ii) the death was wholly or partly attributable to their service. 02/11/16 Page 2 of 3 Existing or former members of the reserve forces who are suffering from a serious injury, illness or disability, which is wholly or partly attributable to their service. Refugees who were dispersed to, and are living in the City, and have been granted leave to remain within the last six months.

3 Nottingham City care leavers who have been placed outside the City. Applicants who have been accepted from outside Nottingham City as part of a Witness Protection recommendation. Elderly applicants (over the age of 60) these applicants will be placed in band 5 and can be considered for older persons accommodation only Applicants from outside Nottingham who are victims of domestic violence who cannot return to their place of origin for fear of violence. Applicants meeting the residency criteria will not be accepted in the following circumstances: Those placed in the City of Nottingham in temporary accommodation by another local authority whilst there is still a homeless duty owed by another local authority (note residency time will not start until the duty is fully discharged). Those placed in the City of Nottingham in residential or supported Housing by another local authority Residency which is not of the applicant s choice, such as prison or a probation hostel.

4 Age qualification Are you aged 18 or over? Applicants between the ages of 16 and 18 will be exempt from the age qualification of 18 in the following circumstances: Homeless young people to whom a duty is owed and who have been accepted into band 1 by Nottingham City Council s, Housing Aid. Nottingham City Council care leavers with a firm recommendation from Children s Services Any other firm recommendation from Adult or Children s services Teenage parents, referred by Housing Aid, who have a full assessment and support plan in place, and who are also at risk of losing their accommodation. Home Owners / Financial Interest in a Property Are you a home owner or do you have a financial interest in a property? If yes, are you aged 60 or over or 55 plus and in receipt of DLA/PIP (If so applicants will qualify for independent living) Exceptions may be allowed in the following circumstances 02/11/16 Page 3 of 3 Applicants who do not have the financial resources / equity in their home to enable them to resolve their Housing needs and who fall within one or more of the following Band 2 categories - Medical and disability grounds - People in hospital ready for discharge Elderly Home Owners (over the age of 60) who are eligible in terms of age for low demand independent living accommodation (These applicants will be placed in Band 5 for older person s accommodation only).
