3. A M E S S A G E F R O M O U R E R Greetings 2427 , september is here, cooler weather, football, fall colors. Oh, and two of our Lodge s biggest fundrais-ing events. The month kicks off on Saturday, september 9th with the Central District An-nual Fall Conference and District Deputy Clinic hosted by our Lodge . The doors will open at 11:00 AM for a lunch; the meeting will begin at noon. These meetings have important and interesting information re-garding Elkdom in our District. I would like to invite all members to attend. Next up on Friday, september 15th and Sat-urday, september 16th is the 43rd Annual Arts and Crafts Festival, Taste of Hutch.

Darla and Jeff Hartwig will need all hands on deck, help to set up, help to serve, cook, and tear down. Last but not least, the annual Elk s Gun Show on Saturday, september 23rd and Sunday, september 24th. Dale Harbarth does a fantastic job with this great event. There will be much help needed. There will be signup sheets at the Lodge , with all the fund raisers coming up, please take some time out of your schedule and make some time for your Lodge ; there are many shifts available for these three events. I challenge you all to be active members of Lodge 2427 . The elks Duffers Golf tourney was held on August 5th and I m sure a good time was had by all.

Thanks, Lane Schlecht. Also thank you to Tammy Lehn and her crew on hosting the District Soccer Shoot. I would personally like to thank everyone that helped with the Orange Spectacular this year. We had great weather and sold a lot of ice cream! september Lodge meetings will be held on the 7th and the 21st. On the 21st, we will be initiating five new members. All are welcome to attend. This will bring us to seven new members since April. That is a good start, here comes the , but have you told a friend, family member, or co-worker about the good Elkdom provides for many people in our community and communities across this great country.

For those of you that have been to an initiation, a change was vot-ed on and approved at the National Conven-tion to return to the long form initiation, so we will be using this on the 21st. Our new is Malcolm J. McPherson, Jr. His motto is Strengthening Elkdom through Community Awareness. A sure way for us to accomplish this is by all of your involve-ment in Lodge 2427 activities in and about our community. I m extending an invitation to each and eve-ry one of you to stop out and enjoy a re-freshing drink, and try some great food from the kitchen, play a little Bingo, try your luck at pull tabs, or just enjoy some company and relax.

Make sure to say hi to Jen and our great staff! 9 Here s wishing everyone a happy Labor Day weekend. Add eggs and vanilla and beat well. Add the rest of the ingredients until well mixed. Chill in the refrigerator for one hour. Roll into 1-inch balls and dip the top into addition-al white sugar. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes at 375 degrees.

Practice the three R s: recruit, retain, respond With summer winding down and your Lodge meetings and fall pro-grams starting up again, there s no better time to focus on an important aspect of Elkdom: membership. We cannot sustain our organization without installing new Members, and by focusing on membership growth at your Local Lodge , you are investing in the future of the Order. Membership is key to my theme of Strengthening Elkdom Through Community Awareness, since there can be no community without Members. At the local level, I encour-age all Lodges to actively promote new Member recruit-ment at your upcoming fall events, and I call on officers and committees to lead the charge in creating program-ming and opportunities to involve new faces.
