3 The vapour barrier jacket is factory-applied to avoid onsite application, which carries the risk of vapourbarrier damage and with it, a risk to the integrity of the system. This also reduces the labour cost forinstallation of the Kooltherm FM pipe Insulation matching self adhesive tape is available to complete the vapour barrier at joints and breaks. 5 Features & Benefits6 Thermal PerformanceWith a thermal conductivity as low as W/m K(at 10 C mean), Kooltherm FM Insulation is themost thermally efficient Insulation materialcommonly used. A low thermal conductivity allowsspecified thermal performance standards to beachieved with thinner superior thermal performance of Kooltherm FM Insulation derives mainly from its closed cellproperties. Its closed cell structure has beenoptimised to resist heat transfer.
4 The closed cellshave a small solid to void volume ratio, are smalland uniform in size, and their construction very finewith extremely thin walls and minimum point contacts (struts). They are filled with a thermallyefficient CFC/HCFC-free blowing agent that haszero Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) and lowGlobal Warming Potential (GWP).As a result of its closed cell structure, Kooltherm FM Insulation is unaffected by air infiltration problems that can be experienced with mineralfibre and which can reduce thermal ResistanceKooltherm FM Insulation has a 90% (or greater) closed cell structure, whichmakes it non-wicking and highly resistant to moisture penetration.
