The mounting surfaceshould be flat and parallelto the centerline of thepiston rod. The load should be guidedto traverse along the cen-terline of the piston rod. With unsupported loads,the bearing must absorbmore force. For theseapplications, the largeralternate rod is recom-mended and stop tubesshould be considered. The frame on which thecylinder is mounted mustbe sufficiently rigid toresist bending moments. Use high tensile sockethead cap screws or hexhead bolts tightened tothe manufacturer's recom-mended torque. For high shock applica-tions, dowel pins or shearkeys should be incorporat-ed in the mounting design.
