6 If you fail the Tech nical and Safety ex amination three (3) times you must complete an ad ditional seven (7 ) hours of continuing ed uca tion courses in ea ch of the areas fa iled (t ec hnical and or saf ety). If you fail the Business examination three (3) times you must co mplete an additional 7 hours of continuing educati on co urses in Business an d submit the retake ap plica tion to the Depar tmen t an d pay the fee. Candidates are well advised to visit this Examination INFORMATION web page fo r any updates an d other helpful INFORMATION : 12- Construction Examinat ion Sc oring: It is possible to get score s with fractio nal val ues when the number of questions on the examination is not a multiple of 100.

7 For example, the Business and Finan ce examination consists of 120 questions. A candid ate who an swered 88 questi ons correctly would get a score of (88 divided by 120.) For all ex aminations wher e the number of real questions is a multiple of 10, 70% co rrect will co rre sp ond to a whole number , fo r example 84 divided by 120 is ex ac tly 70%. The Plumbing Gen er al Trade Knowledge ex amination has a total of 160 possible points. To pas s th is examination a ca ndid ate must have a score of 112 out of 160 possible points. The Isometric drawings ar e graded by tea ms of three lic ensed plumbing co ntractors who ser ve as examiners (S ubjec t Matte r Experts). Each examiner independently sco res ev ery drawing as pass or fail on ei ght different cr it er ia (l egibility, ori entation, fl ow, angles, piping, labeling, vents, and fix ture s.)

8 At lea st two out of the three examiner s must agree that the criter ia have been met in order for points to be awar ded. The points awar ded for all co rrect cr iteria are added togeth er and co nverted to a 10 point sca le to determine the score for each drawin g. The number of points awar ded fo r each drawing is then added to the to tal number of co rrect answer s obtained on the multiple choice questi ons during the morning and af ter noon sess ions. 4 This fig ure is then divided by the total number of possible points (160) to obtain the percentage co rrect score. The 5 Isomet ri c Dra wings on the Plumbing ex amination are worth 10 points each, for a total of 50 points. Ther e are 110 multiple choice questions that are worth 1 point ea ch. Thus a total of 160 points is the max imum possible sco re.
