PRESIDENTS MESSAGE With 2014 behind us, it s a good time to reflect on some of our accomplishments from the previous year and where we are going in 2015. Here are just a few highlights from 2014 .. We supported our community by volunteering as a group at Winnipeg Harvest last May, and we arranged to collect food donations for Winnipeg Harvest at two of our member events. Our programs team hit it out of the park with our first Fraud Summit. The team is putting together another fantastic line up for our 2nd Fraud Summit coming March 18th.
3 Our membership continues to grow as do the number of Internal Audit certifications earned. Our board has been actively planning events for 2015, most notable is our chapter's 65th Anniversary celebration. Stay tuned for special activities to bring current and past members together to continue building on Progress through Sharing. The IIA's International Conference is being held in Vancouver in July. All Canadian members have a unique opportunity to volunteer for the event and receive a discount on your registration fees. The Bring it Home program is a targeted initiative developed by Tourism Winnipeg designed to tap into influential leaders, board members and those in specialized areas of research to attract meetings and conventions.
10 Greetings and remarks were given by Mayor Sam Katz; Chantal Sturk-Nadeau, senior vice president, Tourism Winnipeg; and Dario Di Nella, business development manager, Tourism Winnipeg. The group of citizens being recognized today has done an outstanding job with their passion and leadership as Winnipeg ambassadors. Bringing home meetings and conventions are a great opportunity to showcase our city to new visitors, and grow our local economy, said Mayor Katz. Brian Brown, Past-Chair of the IIA Canada Board, represented the IIA at the luncheon and proudly accepted the gift, a framed photograph of the city, on behalf of the Chapter. The art was subsequently presented to Doug Tumber, Past President of the Winnipeg Chapter, who was a driving force behind the successful conference.
