3 WARNINGThe equipment covered in this manual is to be installed by trained and experiencedservice and INSTALLATION technicians. Improper INSTALLATION , modification, service or usecan cause electrical shock, fire, explosion or other conditions which may cause per-sonal injury, death or property damage. Use appropriate safety gear including safetyglasses and gloves when installing this equipment. WARNINGPage 2# 41718L098 Location of UnitInstall the unit on a solid, level mounting pad. To minimizetransmission of vibration, the pad should not be in directcontact with any building walls or unit has been designed to be located outdoors withsufficient clearance for free entrance to the inlet anddischarge air openings.

Position the unit to avoiddirect contact of water, snow or ice from a roof placing the unit near quiet areas such assleeping quarters or study rooms. Normal operatingsound levels may be objectionable if the unit is placednear certain WiringAll field wiring must be done in accordance with theNational Electrical Code recommendations, CanadianElectrical Code and CSA Standards, or local codes, whereapplicable.

5 Refer to the unit rating plate for informationneeded for wire sizing and branch circuit protection. Anadequately sized branch circuit disconnect should beinstalled, per the NEC, within sight of and readily acces-sible to the unit. Route properly sized copper conductorsfrom the disconnect to the unit high voltage connections atthe contactor. A properly sized ground wire must beconnected to the ground screw or wire located in thecontrol panel. Two low voltage thermostat wires must beconnected to the yellow wires connected to the contactorcoil.

If installed with otherindoor sections or with tubing sets other than 20 feet inlength, adjustments to the total system charge must outdoor unit has been ARI rated with several Arm-strong matching indoor sections for various types ofinstallations. To obtain optimum performance, a matchedindoor section must be installed. ARI ratings are based onproperly charged systems running at rated indoor cfmlevels.

8 Ductwork should be specified to insure the correctindoor airflow is of ShipmentUpon receipt of equipment, carefully inspect it for possibleshipping damage. If damage is found, it should be notedon the carrier s freight bill. Take special care to examinethe unit inside the carton if the carton is damaged. Anyconcealed damage discovered should be reported to thelast carrier immediately, preferably in writing, and shouldinclude a request for inspection by the carrier s any damages are discovered and reported to the carrierDO NOT INSTALL THE UNIT, as claim may be the unit rating plate to confirm specificationsare as unit is designed and approved for outdoor outdoor unit must not be installed with any ductworkin the airstream.

10 Refer to the refrigerant chargelabel located on the inside of the outdoor unit accesspanel for the correct piston orifice size the piston orifice with the correct size if thissize is not already installed in the indoor optimum system performance, indoor coilsshould be washed with a suitable detergent to removeany residue from the coil manufacturing to the following instructions when making therefrigerant piping connections:1. The unit has been factory charged with refrigerant(R22) suitable for a matched indoor coil and 20 feet ofproperly sized refrigerant tubing.
