7 The current sessions are designed for children from the age of 6 months up to 3 years and their parents and or carers. Sessions are held on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month am to am during school terms. A delicious morning tea is provided by the CWA ladies and the morning session is over by Child Health in Allora identified a need for parents with young children to have an opportunity to come together to socialize and develop friendships in Allora and surrounding areas. Allora CWA in collaboration with Queensland Child Health and Once Upon a Song decided to support this need in the community. CWA provide the venue, the morning tea and Roslyn shares the songs, rhymes and activities.

8 Once Upon a Song is a musical playgroup, an ideal way to support parents and their young children in the one setting. It is designed to support babies, toddlers and preschoolers grow into happy, confident children. The program helps to nurture development, foster a love of music and help parents use singing in the home. The focus is on having fun with and learning through music. The parents are an integral part of the activities as they are the first and most important teachers for their children. Parents also benefit from participating in the sessions. As well as the wonderful opportunity to strengthen the bond between parent and child, there is the social interaction parents share with other parents, a time to make new friends and support each other in the parenting and Parents can enjoy an all-round sensory experience, with the opportunity to be seeing, touching, listening, singing and moving.

9 Once Upon a Song is designed and facilitated by Roslyn Lakeman, a University Qualified Early Childhood Teacher with years of experience working with young children and parents or carers in various Early Childhood settings. Roslyn has sung in choirs, studied the piano for 8 years and has previously presented Once Upon a Song successfully on the Gold Coast for the past 6 years in community settings. To appropriately meet the needs of the children attending, the activities are dynamic, physically active and often spontaneous. There is an emphasis on the use of our voices as the first and most important instrument. When parents sing with their children they provide opportunity for young children to hear our language in song.

10 As adults sing with the children we can provide a suitable pace, support repetition and we can explore rhythm and rhyme all of which is essential for early language development. The children and parents use various untuned percussion instruments to extend and explore many of the dances and songs. During the session recorded music is used for dancing and movement are asked to provide a gold coin donation to the CWA for each child further information or to reserve a place for you and your child you can contact Roslyn on the Once Upon a Song (Community) Facebook page or at QCWA news - Once Upon a SongOnce Upon a Song musical activities: Left - Scarf Hiding, right - Parachute Pharmacy is excited to introduce new ranges and services such as, Carusos s & Bioceutical Vitamins, Natio Cosmetics & Skincare, MooGoo Skincare, Websterpaks, NDSS, Perfumes and are currently having the following PROMOTIONS.
