1 intake of seawater in Fishing Ports * Hiroshi HAYASHI * ( ) 1 In fishing ports, seawater is used for various purposes such as for water ice to keep freshness of fishery products at the time of landing and selecting thereof, water for washing facilities, equipment, machines and containers, and water supply to live fish tanks. While an international demand for fishery products is increasing, fisheries resources are in severe situation. To solve the problem, the aquaculture industry is expected to support the growth of the international demand for fishery products in the future; however there is a limit to the expansion of seawater culture due to a restriction of spot suitability. Thereupon, onshore culture that can be carried out anywhere and is expected to show higher productivity than seawater culture is very likely to grow, so the use of seawater on shore such as fishing ports is thought to increase.
2 Therefore, this study presents a variety of seawater taken in fishing ports and intake methods, focuses on seawater intake from a well, then proposes a technique ranging from planning of seawater intake from a well to design thereof.
