1 NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF TRANSPORT JOINING INSTRUCTIONS FOR SELECTED applicants FOR2017/2018 Please be informed that, you have been SELECTED to join the National Institute ofTransport (NIT) to pursue various programmes under Higher Education Student sLoans scheme or Private Sponsorship. We wish you success in this challenging taskas we warmly welcome you to the National Institute of Transport. You will pursue theprogramme identified in your letter of invitation to join the Institute. LOCATION:The National Institute of Transport is located along Mabibo Road behind TANZANIA CHINA TEXTILE MILL (URAFIKI) Company about 10 kilometers from the City EXPENSESYour sponsor or guardian or yourself shall be responsible for your travelingexpenses to and from NIT throughout your MEDICAL EXAMINATIONNew students will only be admitted upon producing a satisfactory medical report of health fitness.
2 You are therefore requested to undergo a medicalexamination by a registered and competent medical practitioner or from aGovernment Hospital before coming to the Institute. Medical ExaminationForms are SPONSORED STUDENTSAll first year students Under Private Sponsorship (other than those under Higher Education Students Loan Board (HESLB) Scheme must fill in and submitStudent s Sponsorship Declaration Forms before being registered. On arrival, you are supposed to report to the Registrar s office for registrationafter submission of the following.)
3 -(a) Evidence of tuition and other fees payment NIT JOINING INSTRUCTIONS 2017 /20181(b) The letter of invitation to join the Institute(c) A duly filled Medical Examination Form(d) Original Academic Certificates and certified Academic Transcripts where it is applicable, including two copies of each Academic Certificates(e) Original Birth Certificate with two copies(f) Caution MoneyIt is a criminal offence to submit false or forged academic documents. Anystudent who will be discovered to have submitted forged certificates his/herregistration to study at the Institute shall be revoked and the case shall bereported to the appropriate security bodies for legal FEES:Students JOINING different programmes have to be sponsored.
4 Such sponsors could either be their employers, Parent or Guardians, HESLB or Private. Paid fees are non-refundable. The fee structure is attached for guidance for appropriate planning and for your further :The fee structure shall be reviewed from time to time whenever the Institute finds it is necessary to do so. All students shall be notified in AFFAIRST here is a Students Organization known as SONIT (Students Organization of the National Institute of Transport). This is an organ which coordinates and organizes all students welfare and social activities at the MONEYAll first year students are required to pay 20,000/= or 50 USD (duringregistration) as caution Money.
5 Caution money is refundable at the end of theprogramme provided the payee did not cause any loss or damage to theInstitute s property during the study period. Where the loss exceeds thecaution money the student shall top up the difference. student who is sponsored by his or her employer will have to produce written evidence from his or her employer that, he or she has been officially released to pursue the intended programme. One should bring such evidence for use during the registration JOINING INSTRUCTIONS 2017 GENERAL During registration and the entire period of the programme the Institute shall ensure the legality of the registered students.
6 Registration can be nullified any time if it comes to our knowledge that a student had cheated by submitting forged Cancellation of AdmissionFailure to register within the first two weeks (10 working Days) after opening of the Institute shall lead to cancellation of your Identity Card(a) Each student is required to bring four (4) passport size photographs and pay Tshs. 10,000/=for an Identity Card.(b) Replacement of a lost Identity Card will be done upon paying five thousand Shillings (Tshs. 10,000/=) and submission of a Police loss report as an evidence of the incidence to the Dean of students SONIT MembershipEvery student shall be a member of the Students Organisation (SONIT).
7 Every member is obliged to pay a membership fee of ten thousand Shillings (10,000/=) Orientation WeekEvery new student must attend an orientation programme that shall last for a week before commencement of the academic Students are required to pay all financial obligations to the Account nameNIT Economic Project Account NMB BankMagomeni Branch and obtain a receipt from the Accounts office andthe fee clearance form which will be recorded in the Registrar s original receipt of fee payment should be kept safe and producedwhenever required by the Institute Each student is required or rather strongly advised to have registered withNational Health Insurance Fund
8 Prior JOINING the Institute in order to coverday to day health matters. INSTITUTE FACILITIES AND CONDITIONS FOR The Institute has Library facilities, Computer Laboratories, Hostels,Workshops, a Dispensary and recreational JOINING INSTRUCTIONS 2017 SELECTED applicants are informed that the Institute does not haveenough/adequate accommodation at the moment hence, they should beprepared to seek for private accommodation outside the Students are advised to come with all necessary items for their studies exercise books, pens, calculators.
9 Drawing pencils and tracing pens, Automobile Engineering students are required to come with at least twopairs of blue overalls, overcoats and safety Medical treatment will be provided after the submission of National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) card. Students accommodated in the Institute s hostels must observe rules andregulations pertaining to students conduct and discipline (by-laws). Theinstitute reserves the right of admission to the Students are encouraged to participate fully in sports and games activities. The Institute participates in various sports competitions:football, netball, basketball, volleyball.
10 Athletics and other indoor are advised to come with sports INSTITUTE S REGULATIONS AND BY-LAWSAs a student of this Institute you will be required to adhere to the Institute s regulations and by-laws listed Examination Rules and Regulations All students must adhere to the Institutes rules and Student general conduct and general discipline All students must observe general conduct and discipline as prescribed inthe Students Handbook and other Industrial training regulationThe Institute through the subject lecturers will organize industrial trainingwhen it deems necessary.
