Visualize 3D is one of 5 core Theorem brands which consist of: CADverter Direct translation of 3D data to or from an alternate CAD, Visualization or Standards Based format Multi-CAD Interactive integration of non-native 3D data formats into the native CAD system Visualize 3D Direct translation of 3D data for the purpose of Visualization Visualize 3D for JT 3D XML 3 | P a g e Theorem Solutions 2015 Publish 3D The creation of documents enriched with 3D content Process Automation Applications to automate any Data Exchange and collaboration processes The 3D XML Bi-directional JT Translator The JT <> 3D XML product is a direct database converter between the JT file format, used by the Siemens VisMockup Visualization products, and the 3 DXML universal, lightweight XML based format.

4 It enables users to capture and share live, accurate 3D data quickly and easily. Once in the 3 DXML format it describes 3D information in both graphic and in precise form, creating product structure, geometry and meta-data such as graphical properties. Primary Product Features JT PMI data is converted enabling its use in 3D XML format for manufacturing purposes. Users of 3 DLive and 3 DVIA can work with the 3D XML files which were originally in the JT format. The product can be invoked in either an interactive or batch mode. The command line interface allows the conversion process to be integrated into any process oriented operation create a 3D XML representation of the data while saving the 3D XML data to a data vault. This product has been developed using a combination of the Siemens JT Open and Dassault Syst mes strategic XCAD technology ensuring full compatibility with both systems. JT assembly and BREP geometry is translated into native 3D XML assembly structure and adaptive (precise) tessellation definitions.

5 In addition JT tessellated data may be processed into the 3 DXML tessellated output format. JT PMI (Product Manufacturing Information) is created as equivalent 3D XML structures. Available in 3 configurations: JT to 3D XML uni directional, 3D XML to JT uni-directional and JT <> 3D XML bi-directional This document will focus specifically on guidance for the use of the Visualize 3D for the 3D XML JT product. 6 Alternatively, you can request a copy of the software to be shipped on a physical CD. Installation The installation is run from the CD or ZIP file download provided. Currently, there are 2 distinct installation stages that are required. To install the translator, select the file and follow the installation process. License Configuration In order for the translation to run successfully, the Theorem license file provided to you needs to be configured using FlexLM. 7 Visualize 3D for JT 3D XML 5 | P a g e Theorem Solutions 2015 Running the Product Once configured and licensed, the product is ready to be run. There are 2 distinct ways of running the translator: Via the Theorem Unified Interface o The Unified Interface offers a Desktop Environment that allows CAD and Visualization data to be viewed pre and post translation Via the Command Line o The Command Line Interface provides a direct method of invoking the translator. It can be used via a DOS shell or called via a third party application as part of a wider process requirement. Visualize 3D for JT 3D XML 6 | P a g e Theorem Solutions 2015 Using the Product Default Translations Default Translation via the Unified Interface The Unified Interface can be started via the Start Menu if a shortcut was added during installation. Alternatively, the Unified Interface can be run via a Windows Explorer selection in: <UI_installation_directory>\bin\ The following interface will be launched: The default layout is split into 4 primary areas, which can be altered to the users prefer: File Browser Active Configurations C Output Logs Translation Activity Visualize 3D for JT 3D XML 7 | P a g e Theorem Solutions 2015 The simplest way to translate from 3D XML to/from JT is to drag a file from the file Browser Pane on to the Active Configurations for the translation you require.

8 On completion, the Unified Interface will display the activity information and details from the log file created during the translation, if requested, in the Translation Activity and Output Log panes, respectively. The generated output data can be located by selecting the translation from the Activity pane and opening the output folder: Default Translation via the Command Line The translator invocation is dependent upon the version of CATIA V5 or 3 DEXPERIENCE that you have installed. The format of the command is as follows when translating from 3D XML to JT: <Translator_installation_directory>\bin\ 3 DXML<???>XCAD_JT i <input_file> -o <output_file> The format of the command is as follows when translating from JT to 3D XML: <Translator_installation_directory>\bin\ JT_3 DXML<?

9 ??>XCAD i <input_file> -o <output_file> (Note! Replace the <???> seen in the example command line with the version of CATIA V5 or 3 DEXPERIENCE that you have installed. The following substitutions should be made: For CATIA V5 R23 - change <???> to 5R23 For CATIA V5 R23 - change <???> to 5R24 For CATIA V5 R23 - change <???> to 5R25 For CATIA V6 R2013X - change <???> to 6R214 For 3 DEXPERIENCE R2014X - change <???> to 6R216 The example above will translate a 3D XML sample file provided within the installation and produce the following screen output: Visualize 3D for JT 3D XML 9 | P a g e Theorem Solutions 2015 The file will be output to the target location. In this case: C:\users\mark\Documents\ Translator Customization The Theorem translator allows the information that is read from the source system and written to the target system to be tailored via a set of user specified arguments. Commonly used arguments are supported via the Unified Interface, with Advanced Arguments being described within this document for use in the Unified Interface or via the Command Line invocation.)
