2 All objectives listed below must be checked and the signature block signed by the candidate and the agency head or designee before the candidate is eligible to be certified. This document is a testament to the competency of the candidate and a statement of training to the tasks listed within the standard. Candidate must attach a copy of current training in CPR and 1 of the following: First aid, first responder, EMT or Paramedic certificate/card. 2 Ability to don and doff personal protective and prepare for reuse, hoist tools and equipment using ropes and the correct knot and locate information in departmental documents and standard or code materials.

3 8 Ability to operate fire department communications equipment, relay information and record information. 3 Ability to operate fire department telephone, intercom equipment. 9 Ability to operate radio equipment and to discriminate between routine and emergency traffic. Ability to initiate an emergency call for assistance. 4 Use SCBA during emergency operations; correctly don, wear and doff SCBA, Replace cylinders, ability to control breathing, use SCBA to exit through restricted passages and initiate/complete emergency procedures in the event of SCBA failure or air depletion. 10 Respond on apparatus to an emergency scene, correctly mount and dismount apparatus, use seat belts and other personal protective equipment as provided. 5 Establish and work at emergency scenes, dismount apparatus in traffic, wear protective equipment, use and deploy traffic and scene control devices and operate in protected work area.

4 11 Ability to transport and operate hand and power tools. Force entry through doors, windows and walls using assorted methods and tools. 6 Ability to operate as a team member in vision-obscured conditions, locate and follow a guideline, conserve air supply, maintain team integrity and evaluate areas for hazards and identify a safe haven. 12 Carry, raise and extend ladders, lock flies, determine that a wall and roof will support the ladder, judge extension ladder height requirements and place ladder to avoid obvious hazards. Requested test date & location _____ JPR# JPR Description JPR# JPR Description 13 Attack passenger vehicle fire , ability to identify automobile fuel types, assess and control fuel leaks, open, close and adjust flow and pattern on nozzles, apply water for maximum effectiveness maintaining flash fire protection, advance 1-1/2 or larger attack lines, and expose hidden fires by opening all automobile compartments.

5 21 Extinguish exterior Class A fires, recognize hazards related to the materials configuration, operate hand lines or master streams, break up material using hand tools and water streams, evaluate extinguishment, operate hose lines, evaluate and modify water application, search for and expose hidden fires and assess patterns for origin determination. 14 Conduct search and rescue in structure, use SCBA to exit through restricted passages, set up and use different types of ladders for various types of rescue operations, rescue a fire Fighter with and without functioning respiratory protection, rescue a person who has no respiratory protection and assess areas to determine tenability. 22 Attack an interior structure fire , ability to prevent water hammers, open, close and adjust nozzle flow and patterns, apply water using direct, indirect and combination attacks, advance 1-1/2 or larger diameter hose lines up ladders and up and down interior and exterior stairways, extend hose lines, replace burst sections of hose, operate charged hose lines of 1-1/2 or larger while secured to a ground ladder, couple and uncouple various hand line connections, carry hose, attack fires at grade level and above and below grade, locate and suppress interior wall and sub-floor fires.

6 15 Perform horizontal ventilation, ability to transport ventilation tools and equipment and ladders, use safe procedures for breaking window and door glass and removing obstructions. 23 Perform vertical ventilation, ability to transport and operate ventilation tools and equipment, hoist ventilation tools to roof, cut roofing and flooring materials to vent flat roofs, pitched roofs and basements, sound a roof for integrity, clear an opening with hand tools, select, carry deploy and secure ladders for ventilation, and carry ventilation-related tools and equipment while ascending and descending ladders. 16 Overhaul a fire scene, remove flooring, ceiling and wall components to expose void spaces without compromising structural integrity to expose and extinguish hidden fires, apply water for maximum effectiveness, recognize and preserve obvious signs of area of origin and arson and evaluate for complete extinguishment.

7 24 Salvage, conserve property, ability to cluster furniture, deploy covering materials, roll and fold salvage covers for reuse, construct water chutes and catch-alls, remove water, cover building openings, including doors, windows, floor and roof openings, separate, remove and relocate charred material to a safe location while protecting the area of origin for cause determination, stop the flow of water from a sprinkler with wedges or stoppers, and operate main control valve on sprinkler system. 17 Connect a pumper to a water supply, ability to hand lay a supply hose, connect and place hard suction hose for drafting operations, deploy portable water tanks as well as the equipment necessary to transfer water between and draft from them, make hydrant to pumper hose connections for forward and reverse lays, connect supply hose to hydrant and fully open and close the hydrant.

8 25 Extinguish Class A, B and C fires, the ability to operate fire extinguishers, approach fire with extinguishers, select an appropriate extinguisher based on the size and type of fire , and safely carry fire extinguishers. 18 Illuminate emergency scene, operate department power supply and lighting equipment, deploy cords and connectors, reset ground fault interrupter devices and locate lights for best effect. 26 Turn off building utilities, identify utility control devices, operate control valves or switches and assess for related hazards. 19 Combat ground cover fire , determine threats based on fire spread potential, protect exposures, construct a fire line or extinguish with hand tools, maintain integrity of establishing fire lines and suppress ground cover fires using water. 27 Clean and check ladders, ventilation and salvage equipment, SCBA, ropes and hand tools, select correct tools for various parts and pieces of equip-ment, follow guidelines, complete recording and reporting procedures.

9 20 Clean, inspect and return fire hose to service, clean different types of hose, operate hose washing and drying equipment, mark defective hose, replace gaskets, roll and reload hose. 28 Ability to hoist tools using specific knots based on the type of tool.
