Mapping The World In Flying ColorsAn affordable new development in the evolution of panel-mountedavionics, the compact new Bendix/King kln 94 color GPSnavigator/moving map display brings color and a host of enhancedcapabilities to your cockpit. Incorporating aeronautical andcartographic map data, the kln 94 simplifies everything from tuningyour radios to shooting a result, the new kln 94 also reduces workload for IFR pilotswhile providing a higher level of situational awareness. Designed tosave on installation costs it fits in the same panel space as mostpopular current GPS and Loran receivers the mark-width kln 94 letsyou upgrade to color while maintaining your panel s integrity andconsistency. It s even a direct plug-in replacement for our popular KLN that s just the beginning of how much value and performancewe ve packed into the new KLN ColorPerhaps the first thing that draws you to the kln 94 is its bright, colorful screen.

Highly readable even in direct sunlight its big liquidcrystal display gives your cockpit an immediate all this beauty isn t only for show. By incorporating a colordisplay, the kln 94 helps identify and organize the information youneed, conveying it in a way that speeds your recognition of criticalnavigation data and reduces by enabling you to concentrate more fully on each task, theKLN 94 s color presentation enhances safety by allowing you to spendmore time looking outside the cockpit and less time looking down atthe the Bendix/King Silver Crown and Silver CrownPlus avionics, the new TSO d kln 94 Navigation Systemfeatures a pilot-friendly, color, five-line display and moving map graphics, enhancing its ability to perform IFR-certified GPS N 9 4 Picture Yourself On A Map ..While panel-mounted GPS with integral NAV mapping isn t a new idea we pioneered the concept in 1992 with our KLN 90 the kln 94 takes this useful capability to newheights.

Featuring a comprehensive list of Jeppesen aeronautical information, the kln 94 also gives you a fullcomplement of cartographic map means that, in addition to airports,VORs, NDBs,intersections, special-use airspace and the like, you can viewsuch land-based reference points as rivers, roads, lakes, cities, railroad tracks, boundaries and can also displayterminal and approach holding patterns and procedure turnsto provide you with an unprecedented amount of awarenessas to your aircraft s position and trend in relation to , with the kln 94 s capability to overlay your coursewith a wide range of selected aeronautical and cartographicinformation, you get the greatest degree of situationalawareness ever available to general aviation the kln 94 makes all this power easy to access anduse, too. Its streamlined operating system, complemented bydedicated buttons for range and map menus, make changingpages and initiating procedures a simply intuitive OperatorThe kln 94 also offers a number of features aimed atreducing pilot workload.

For example, there s a dedicated Procedure button which makes it easier to load approach, departure (DP) and arrival (STAR) Procedure button also supports a Vector to Final feature which permits activation of your final approach fix(and its associated inbound course) without switchingbetween OBS and Leg modes. (See the illustration above forfurther details.)The kln 94 also supports our handy QuickTune function, which streamlines the entry of communication andnavigation frequencies in your aircraft s KX 155A or KX 165 ANAV/COMM. Providing a scroll and select menu, QuickTunelets you load these frequencies into the standby position ofyour KX 155A or KX 165A saving both time and addition, the kln 94 offers three types of trip planning1. An initial press of the PROC button displays a menu. This allowsyou to select a departure, arrival, When Approach is chosen fromthe menu, the kln 94 displays a listof airports in the active flight plan, along with other airports havingapproaches that are close to theaircraft s current Approaches for the selected airportare then displayed.

Approachesapproved for GPS are designated witha GPS identifier. Alternate approachesare included to help monitorsituational awareness while othernavigation equipment providesactual navigational When radar vectors are to beprovided by ATC, choose Vectors inplace of a published initial approachfix to intercept the inbound course tothe final approach fix. This loadsapproach waypoints into the activeflight plan, beginning with the finalapproach fix (FAF).5. When the controller beginsproviding vectors, press the PROC button to display the FAF (JIKLA) andits course (354 ). Press the ENT button, and the kln 94 activatesvectors and makes JIKLA the activewaypoint and 354 (the course to it.)That s all there is to it!For many pilots, the most commonmeans of becoming established onan instrument approach is viaradar vectors received from AirTraffic Control.

Here s how theKLN 94 s Procedure button (PROC)is used to load an approach usingradar vectors:Feature Summary Color IFR GPS (TSO C129a A1), withcapability for en route, terminal and non-precision approaches compact size (2 H x W x D) QuickTune feature loads frequencies intoKX 155A and KX 165A NAV/COMMs Powerful cartographic database includesrivers, roads, lakes, cities, railroad tracks, boundaries and towers Comprehensive aeronautical databaseincludes airports, VORs, NDBs,intersections and special-use airspace Automatic Vector to Final approachcapability Dedicated Range and Map Menu buttons facilitate map access and reducepage changes Dedicated Procedures button simplifiesloading of approaches andarrival/departure procedures Self-contained MSG, WPT and GPSAPPR/GPS ARM annunciators reduceinstallation cost in many installations Includes ILS.
