1 1 Lake Placid Figure Skating Championships Olympic Center, Lake Placid , SC of Lake Placid June 28-July 1, 2018 Competition Chairs: Lucy Brennan & Kathaleen Cutone Chief Referee: Kathaleen Cutone The Lake Placid Summer Figure Skating Championships will be conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations of Figure Skating , as set forth in the current rulebook, as well as any pertinent updates which have been posted on the Figure Skating website. This competition is open to all eligible, restricted, reinstated or readmitted persons as defined by the Eligibility Rules, and is a currently registered member of a Figure Skating member club, a collegiate club or an individual member in accordance with the current rulebook.

2 Please refer to the current rulebook for Citizens. This competition is also sanctioned by Skate Canada (pending). ELIGIBILITY/TEST LEVEL: Test level: Competition level is the highest test passed as of the entry deadline in the discipline the skater is entering. Entrants may skate one level above that for which they qualify, but they may not skate down in any event. Age restrictions/requirements: Skaters entering juvenile free skate events (IJS) must be under 13 years of age at the close of entries. Skaters entering open juvenile free skate events (IJS), must be at least 13 years of age at the close of entries. Skaters entering beginner through pre-juvenile events will be divided as closely as possible by age should the number of entries warrant more than one group.

3 Events and groups may be combined at the discretion of the referee and LOC. BEGINNER, HIGH BEGINNER & NO TEST LEVELS (COMPETE USA) Eligible competitors for Beginner, High Beginner & No Test events may be members of a Learn to Skate USA Program or full members, in good standing of Figure Skating . Eligibility will be based only upon highest free skate test level passed (Moves in the Field test level will not determine skater s competitive level). Skaters may skate at highest level passed OR one level higher, but not both levels in the same event during the same competition. Skaters may not compete at more than one level in the same type event at the same competition. 2 ENTRIES: Entries will only be accepted through online registration.

4 Online registration using the Figure Skating EMS Portal via is the ONLY method available to enter the competition. SKATE CANADA MEMBERS/FOREIGN SKATERS: Skate Canada and foreign skaters intending to register for this competition must set up a non-member account prior to registering for the competition. 5 Late entries may be accepted at the discretion of the LOC and Referee, but will be subject to a $40 late fee. Entry fees are as follows: IJS Singles Events: $135 First Event $75 Each Additional Singles Events: Test Track, Moves in the Field, Compulsory Moves, No Test through Pre-Juvenile Well Balanced $105 First Event $60 Each Additional Event All Pairs Events: $130 Per Team First Event $70 Per Team Second Event *For pair s events, one entry fee is assessed. The partner/team member who registers for the event will have access to the EMS Skater Portal for music submission (PPC if applicable) and practice ice. REFUND POLICY: Entry fees will not be refunded unless no competition exists or the event is canceled. We will refund competition fees (minus a $20 processing fee) if the skater is not able to compete due to a documented medical reason.

6 All refund requests must be made in writing to with doctor s note attached by July 10, 2018 . Refunds will be processed at that time only. No refund requests will be accepted after this date. Please be advised that refunds may take 4-6 weeks to process. The online processing fees are not refundable. Practice ice fees are not refundable. Contested credit card charges will be issued a $50 fee. Payment of the fee will be required before the skater is allowed to participate in practice ice or events. SCHEDULE: Notification of competition and practice ice times will be available online at , in addition to the EMS Skater Portal, as soon as possible following the close of entries. 3 FACILITIES: The competition will be held at: Olympic Center 2634 Main Street Lake Placid , 12946 Competition will be held in the 1932 and 1980 Rinks, both are Olympic sized rinks measuring 100 x 200.

7 Concessions will be available at the area. MUSIC UPLOAD/SUBMISSION DEADLINE TO SUBMIT: WEDNESDAY, JUNE 13th at 11:00 PM: Online music submission is the ONLY acceptable method to submit program music through the EMS Skater Portal (Music/PPC tab). The uploaded program MUST conform to the following specifications: Only one piece of competition program music ( Short Program, Free Skate, etc.). The uploaded file must be an MP3 or M4A file. Simply changing the file extension to mp3 from another file format is not acceptable. Bit Rate of 192 kbps or higher is requested. The file should not contain any ID3 metadata (tags). Especially NO embedded images such as album cover art, picture of the skater, etc. Leaders and trailers (the silence or dead space before and after the actual start and end of the program music) may not exceed two (2) seconds.

8 We prefer there be NO leaders or trailers at all. Excessive leaders and trailers may disrupt the playing of the music during competition. PENALTY FOR INCORRECT MUSIC OR FAILURE TO UPLOAD MUSIC The LOC may assess each competitor an additional charge of $25 per event if the competitor 1) fails to submit their music prior to the close of online music submission, 2) submits files that do not correspond to the specifications above, or 3) submits either the incorrect music or needs to make changes to their music after the close of online music submission. Competitors may NOT receive their credentials at registration until all music issues are resolved. PLANNED PROGRAM CONTENT (PPC) DEADLINE TO SUBMIT: WEDNESDAY, JUNE 18th at 11:00 PM All IJS level competitors must submit their PPC online through the EMS Skater Portal (Music/PPC tab).

9 LIABILITY: Figure Skating , the Skating Club of Lake Placid and the NYS Olympic Regional Development Authority/ Olympic Center accept no responsibility for injury or damage sustained by any participant in this competition. This is in accordance with Rule 1600 of the official Figure Skating Rulebook. JUDGING SYSTEM: The International Judging System (IJS) will be used for the following events: - Well Balanced Program free skate events, juvenile senior - Short program events, juvenile senior - Pairs free skate events, juvenile senior - Pairs short program events, intermediate senior The Majority Judging System will be used for: - Well Balanced Program free skate events, pre-preliminary pre-juvenile - Introductory free skate events (beginner, high beginner, no-test) 4 - All Test Track events - All Compulsory Moves events - All Moves in the Field events ONSITE REGISTRATION: Onsite registration will begin on Wednesday, June 28th from 5pm-9pm.

10 On competition days, registration will be open one hour before the first event and run through the last event of the day. The registration table will be located on the main level of the Olympic Center just outside the main entrance to the 1980 Rink. PRACTICE ICE: Practice ice will be offered beginning Wednesday, June 27th. A schedule and detailed instructions on how to purchase it will be available as soon as possible following the release of the competition schedule. Please note, all practice ice will be sold through the EMS Skater Portal. PHOTOGRAPHY/VIDEOGRAPHY: Miracle Moments Photography will offer action photos for all events. They will be set up on the concourse of the 1980 Rink. Please contact with any questions regarding photography.
