Aunt Betty will be helping us at the fair booth. Steve introduced Dr. Giovanni Annous, past president of Rim of the World Rotary club , and new superintendent of Upper Lake Unified School District. Student Rotarian Report After a long dry spell, we finally have a Student Rotarian! Lexi Burke joined us and gave an exceptional report with details of football, soccer, and freshman orientation. She also let us know that she just signed her letter of intent to attend the University of Nebraska on a soccer scholarship. sunshine & Rotary Information sunshine monger Beth was helping Melissa at the fairgrounds, so didn't have her sunshine papers with her. She stepped up, however, and managed to get Dave Meek to admit to 15 years of wedded bliss to Theresa, and Don to admit to 52 years with Jaye. Several of us were priveleged to attend Dave and Theresa's nuptials. A few of us were alive when Don and Jaye got hitched. Detective Steve put on the uniform of the detective (black socks and sandals) and took charge.

He proceeded to fine our fine Past President for not having the Four Way Test memorized. For those still stymied by this Rotary staple: according to Kenny, rememebering "Is Is Will Will " will help you remember the whole thing. Art was fined for FTA (failure to appear) at his shift prepping the beer booth. Judy paid for an east coast excursion that included grandkids, the White House, and witnessing the total eclipse. Dana was recognized for going to Ferndale to bet on the ponies. She had a few dollars left to pay her fine. Beth and Pam were asked to stand, then sit. Not sure what that was about, but apparently they didn't have to pay a fine. Someone tried to snitch on Don for having a new car. Apparently this is old news so he didn't have to pay. Dave Meek paid for turning his hat sideways and flashing a gang sign. Jerry was fined for recruiting people to take a river cruise to Viet Nam. Brags: Brags: Pam bragged about LARCA donating $10,000 to her church on Cobb.

Announcements & All Things Important As many of you knowm, LARCA is sponsoring the rebuilding of a house in Middletown, and is in need of help this Sunday and Monday morning at 8:00 am. Ruth will email directions and details for any who might be available and willing to help out this very worthwhile effort. Program Just when we thought we had heard enough about beer, Dave Herrick stepped up to give us the details about the fair booth. Before he started his presentation, however, he took a moment to thank his lovely wife, Cheryl, for doing all the real work. She was her passing out fair tickets while Dave basked in the glory of a job about to be well done. The big change this year is that we will be using wrist bands to help prevent selling beer to underage patrons. The wrist bands will hopefully address the concerns of the Alcoholic Beverage Commission (ABC) in taking all reasonable steps to avoid underage drinking. There will be a station at the main booth, as well as a person at the satellite booth to check ID's and affix wrist bands.

If you get the assignment to put on the bands, be sure to make them tight enough so that they can't be removed. If you are serving beer, be sure to take a close look at the band to make sure it hasn't been tampered with. If you see someone with a wrist band that doesn't look over 21, check their ID again. We will be limiting sales to one beer per person. Patrons can still buy several beers for friends, but each person must be at the window and have a wrist band in Keep in mind that anyone who serves beer to an underage or intoxicated person can be help personally responsible and fined. Err on the side of caution! Danny Morgan will, once again, be taking vacation time in order to help us with this effort. Be sure to thank him profusely for his service. Next Week's Lunch, Program & Finley Lunch next week will be a taco bar. Our speaker will be Rob Brown. Greg won the Finley Handicap, garnering $10 and our heartfelt appreciation.

The book that Dave had to sign for the elementary school library was "The Bad Guys." No reflection on our illustrious Beer Czar, of course. club Roster & Committee Assignments club ROSTER. 91st Annual Easter Egg Hunt - Sunday, March 27th By Corrigan Gommenginger 2016-03-25. On June 2nd, Lake County Department of Public Services and the Konocti Regional Trails (KRT) team held a small ceremony on Mt. Konocti's Wrights Peak to dedicate the seventh in a series of interpretive panels on the mountain.

The panel commemorates a fatal plane crash that took two lives nearly 50 years ago. two lives nearly 50 years ago. The sunny June morning in 2016 was a direct contrast to the tragic day in 1970. On January 26th, Mervin and Julia "May" Enzler left Santa Rosa airport to fly home to Ukiah in their white and turquoise 1946 Navion A. The Enzlers had recently retired as owners of the "Model Bakery" in Ukiah, today operating as Schats Courthouse Bakery and Cafe. Increasingly bad weather forced them to request navigational assistance from air traffic control in Ukiah. After a brief navigational correction with the tower, further contact ceased. A massive air and ground search was conducted. Due to the remote location and lack of access, it wasn't until early February that the crash debris was spotted on the side of the mountain by a local pilot. The wreckage was largely forgotten until the fall of 2011, when the road sides were cleared for the opening of Mt.

Konocti Regional Park, once again uncovering the aircraft. An increasing number of phone calls requesting information on the plane debris prompted then-Calfire Batallion Chief, Greg Bertelli, to contact KRT members about installing a commemorative plaque at the site near the Calfire lookout tower. KRT then researched the family, tracking down the Enzler's son, Ed Enzler, now in his 80's and still living in Mendocino County. After initial discussions, Mr. Enzler agreed to collaborate with KRT's Tom Nixon, and Kelseyville's Emmy-award winning art designer Gerri Groody, on an interpretive panel depicting his parents' tragic deaths. The Lakeport Rotary club volunteered to pay for the panel and installation, culminating in the June ceremony. Attending were the Enzler family (son, Ed Enzler and grandchildren Steve Enzler, Scott Enzler, Karen Adamski and Eileen Husted), members of the Lakeport Rotary club represented by president, Jennifer Strong, Lake County Department of Public Services Dana Smalley, and KRT.

Members headed by Tom Nixon, who has spearheaded all seven panel projects to- date . This was the first time most of the Enzler family had seen the plane crash, resulting in some poignant moments and memories. The gathering ended with a trip to the top of the Calfire lookout tower for 360 degree views of the mountain, and side tours to visit Mary Downen's cabin and the ancient maul oak grove. Six other interpretive panels covering cultural and natural history were previously installed on Mt. Konocti via a State Parks grant. Mt. Konocti Regional Park is open daily from dawn to dusk, and accessible via hiking only. For more information on Mt.
