Trainees may voluntarily request termination of training. Any time the trainee makes a statement such as "I QUIT," or "DOR," (Drop on Request), he or she shall be immediately removed from the training environment and referred to the appropriate division or training OFFICER for administrative action. The trainee must then make a written statement, clearly indicating the desire to DOR. Any time a trainee or instructor has apprehension concerning his or her personal safety or that of another, he or she shall signal for a "Training Time Out" to clarify the situation or procedure and receive or provide additional instruction as appropriate.

3 "Training Time Out" signals, other than verbal, shall be appropriate to the training environment. Instructors are responsible for maintaining situational awareness and shall remain alert to signs of trainee panic, fear, extreme fatigue or exhaustion, or lack of confidence that may impair safe completion of the training exercise, and shall immediately stop the training, identify the problem, and make a determination to continue or discontinue training. Instructors shall be constantly alert to any unusual behavior which may indicate a trainee is experiencing difficulty, and shall immediately take appropriate action to ensure the trainee's safety.
