2 Failure to do so will result in a corrupt installation that will not work properly. Prerequisite Steps Before attempting the install of ONGUARD to please conduct the following steps to disable User Account Control and uninstall ForeFront TMG/Microsoft Firewall CLIENT on the computer due to a conflict these Windows features and the ONGUARD software. Disable UAC Windows Vista 1. Open User Accounts by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking User Accounts and Family Safety (or clicking User Accounts, if you are connected to a network domain), and then clicking User Accounts. 2. Click Turn User Account Control off. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. 3. Uncheck the Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer to turn off UAC, and then click OK.

3 4. You will need to restart your computer for UAC to be turned off Windows 7 1. Open User Account Control Settings by clicking the Start button, and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type uac, and then click Change User Account Control settings. 2. Move the slider to the Never notify position, and then click OK. Highlight the ForeFront TMG or Microsoft Firewall CLIENT 4. Click Uninstall Windows XP 1. Click Start>Control Panel (or Start>Settings>Control Panel) 2.

4 Click Add/Remove Programs 3. Highlight the Microsoft Firewall CLIENT or ForeFront TMG 4. Click Uninstall Installation Steps 1. Temporarily DISABLE SmartScreen Filter. We have seen cases in test where SmartScreen Filter has attempted to block the download of the installation executable you will be retrieving in Step 2 below. Once you have successfully downloaded the executable file to your local machine you may re-ENABLE SmartScreen Filter if desired. Enable or Disable SmartScreen Filter using Command Bar in IE Open Internet Explorer and Click on the Command Bar Safety icon button. To Turn Off SmartScreen Filter NOTE: This is if it SmartScreen Filter is currently turned on. Click on SmartScreen Filter and Turn Off SmartScreen Filter. (See screenshot below) Dot Turn off SmartScreen Filter, and click on OK.

Click on SmartScreen Filter and Turn On SmartScreen Filter. (See screenshot below) Dot Turn on SmartScreen Filter (recommended) and click on OK. This is important to note as the file will need to be located in the next step. 3. This will download the file. This file will need to be located after the download completes. (Usually the Desktop or the local Downloads folder) Version , 1/22/2013 Microsoft Confidential | Page 7 4.

6 Now double click the file which will open the following dialogue. 5. Click the Unzip button. This will create the LenelInstallationFiles folder on the C:\. This guide will only refer to the install files being located here. If the path in the Unzip to folder field was changed go to that folder if the document references C:\LenelInstallationFiles. The box will show the progress as installation is extracted. 6. When the extraction process is completed a box will pop up stating that 4092 file(s) unzipped successfully. Click OK on the completion window and click Close on the WinZip Self-Extractor window. Version , 1/22/2013 Microsoft Confidential | Page 8 7. To start the installation click on Start>Run and type in C:\LenelInstallationFiles\ and click OK 8. When the install starts some software prerequisites may need to be installed.

7 If the computer requires the software, it will display the window below. Click the Install button to install the prerequisites software. If this window doesn t appear skip to the next step. Version , 1/22/2013 Microsoft Confidential | Page 9 9. On the ONGUARD 2012 installer click the radio button next to I accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next. Version , 1/22/2013 Microsoft Confidential | Page 10 10. On the next screen you will be informed to click Install to continue the Installation. As a note the installer will uninstall the prior version. After you click Install the screen will go away and nothing will be displayed for 3 to 5 minutes. Do not interrupt the process in any way (reboot your computer, turn off your computer, stop the UPGRADE processes, etc.).

8 11. When the install process completes a restart window will be displayed. Select Yes, I want to restart my computer now and click OK. Version , 1/22/2013 Microsoft Confidential | Page 11 12. Post reboot and after logging in, setup will continue. Next the Setup Assistant will run to configure the computer for the software. To continue click Start. 13. The Setup Assistant will stop at the Security Utility. This will put in the necessary exceptions to allow for the software to run. Click the Apply button to start the process.
