1 Level 1 Orientation Mentor Guide (eService/LMS Input) 1 Guide Contents This guide will detail how to enter the skills evaluations/in-residence requirements in the Learning Management System (LMS). The guide will also provide instructions on how to view a member s completion of courses and quizzes in the LMS. There is a listing of the Level 1 Orientation requirements at attachment 1 that can be used as a manual tracker of completed items. The Level 1 Orientation course permits the commander to approve a new members Level 1 completion without the submission of any Form 11s.

2 All requirements (Intro to Safety, EO, CPPT, Foundations) are all completed online. Requirements It is the Professional Development Officer s (PDO) responsibility to lead a new member through the requirements of Level 1. The new Level I is designed to provide the new member with a relevant, yet thorough introduction to Civil Air Patrol . It is also designed to encourage new member inclusion into the squadron through a series of structured experiences. One of the ways to provide the new member with a sense of inclusion is to introduce them to the interworking of the unit and Civil Air Patrol .

3 The instructions below show how to record the PDO/mentor completion of the required interaction with the new member in order for the new member to complete 1 and move to greater responsibility in the unit. In-Resident Input Instructions Below are instructions on how to view what a new member has completed and how to enter Mentor inputs into the Learning Management System (LMS). Viewing Completions Commanders and PDOs can view a member s completions in the LMS by accessing the Past Results page. Below are instructions on how to access the members Past Results.

4 1) Log into eServices 2) Find the Learning Management System link in the left hand menu under CAP Utilities . Click on Learning Management System . 3) Once in the LMS, look in the left hand menu for Past Results . When you click on past results, you will see your results as shown below. 2 Once on this page, click on the next to your name and enter the CAP ID of the member whose results you would like to review. The lessons/quizzes the member has passed and not passed will show up on this screen. Look carefully for a completion because a member could have quizzes that they didn t pass and then the pass results.

5 Both the Passed and Did Not Pass results will show on the page. You can fill this information into the form located in the back of this guide as Attachment 1. Entering Mentor inputs The following duty positions can enter the Skills Evaluation for the new member in the LMS: Commander, DCS, Professional Development, Deputy Commander, Deputy Commander for Seniors, Director of Professional Development, Professional Development Officer & Vice Commander. How to enter Skills Evaluations To enter a Mentor input, follow the steps below.

6 1) Log into eServices 2) Find the Learning Management System link in the left hand menu under CAP Utilities . Click on Learning Management System . 3) Once in the LMS, look in the left hand menu for Skills Evaluation . When you click on skills evaluation, you will see your results as shown below. This link is right below the Past Results link. If you can t see the link, you do not have permissions to enter completions. Your Name 3 a) Click on the Step 1: Course drop down and select Level 1 Orientation .

7 B) After selecting Level 1 Orientation you will get 3 additional steps. c) In Step 2: Skill (Select All That Apply), you select the Mentor input for the appropriate lesson . You can enter multiple entries at the same time by following the instructions above the block. Past Results Skills Evaluation Magnifying Glass (Search) 4 d) Step 3: Completed. Enter the Completion Date for the selected portions of the course. e) Step 4: Enter CAP ID. Enter the CAP ID for the new member, or members, if you enter more than one CAP ID make sure you separate the IDs with a comma.

8 (NOTE: IMPORTANT Click on the Magnifying Glass to the bottom right of the CAP ID block so the system can find the appropriate member before clicking Submit ). Once the system has located the member or members click on Submit . Once you hit the submit button, the member will receive credit for the selected mentor input. If you would like to view the completion, see the previous area on looking at Past Results. Recording Completion of Level 1 When all requirements are completed, the commander will receive a notification that there is a pending approval in their Commanders Corner.

9 The commander will be able to approve, or disapprove, the completion of Level 1 for the member through the PD Awards module. When the commander approves the Level 1, it will be automatically recorded in eServices. There is no need to submit a Form 11.
