9 Final De-plant & Asset Remediation: Following completion of hazard reduction activities, the next priority is to reduce the nuclear footprint and infrastructure associated with the site. Superfluous buildings no longer needed are removed, initially by deplanting and then through demolition. Following infrastructure removal, land remediation requirements are assessed and monitored using our Water & Environment Group providing confidence to the SLC, the regulators and the general public. The extent of remediation is evaluated accounting for natural decay and intended use of the land following de-designation and de-licensing decommissioning business is focused on delivery within three key areas.
