Cleaning of EquipmentAfter use, remove as much product as possible, and thenclean immediately with roof tiles galvanised iron and fibre cement. Otherapplications include side cladding, galvanised iron garagedoors, gutters and :Do not apply directly to galvanised iron suitable for direct application to powdery or friablesurfaces whether previously painted or roof coat is not recommended for applicationto Chromadek roof sheeting or Galvanised Iron roofsheeting with insulation board OR Clay, Slurry coated tilesand no circumstances should a Water Based EtchPrimer be used as a primer for this product on galvanisediron RequiredApply two to three finishing coats to new and previouslycoated surfaces to achieve a closed film and solid quantity of paint required can be obtained bymeasuring the floor area of the house covered by the roof .
Including overhang. Additional allowance of + 30% must bemade for the pitch of the roof , plus approx. 30% for thecorrugated profile. Divide the total area by the spreadingrate of the paint (see Product Information) to give anindication of the paint requirements per coat . Makeallowance for thinning of the primer roof COATPage3 of6 SURFACE PREPARATIONE nsure that surfaces are sound and free from dust, oil, grease, dirt, and debris. Surfacesmust be thoroughly dry - no more than 12% moisture SURFACESG alvanised Iron (new, un-weathered) Heavy fabricator s pre-treatment oil, and other surface contaminates must be removedwithDulux Galvanised Iron Cleaner.
A water-break free surface indicates thoroughcleaning - running water should not form droplets. Prime with one full coat ofDuluxGalvanised Iron Iron (unpainted, weathered) Remove all loose rust and white scale by means of wire brushing, sanding, chipping, ormechanical scouring - down to bright metal. To remove dirt, salts and zinc corrosion(white rust) clean thoroughly withDulux Galvanised Iron Cleaner achieving a water-break free surface. Areas showing red rust must be removed back to bright galvanised iron spot primed withDulux Galvanised Iron Primer followed by one full coat of the same Iron in aggressive/coastal conditions Remove all loose rust and scale by means of wire brushing, sanding, chipping, ormechanical scouring - down to bright metal.
To remove dirt, salts and zinc corrosion(white rust) clean thoroughly withDulux Galvanised Iron Cleaner. Apply two full coats ofDulux Galvanised Iron and Fibre Cement roof Tiles (new) To remove dust, debris and chalky residue, wash the entire roof area using high-pressure washing, using a rotating nozzle at a pressure between 150 and 200 , scrub the entire roof area with a bristle brush, using water from a gardenhose and allow drying. For sound cement roof tiles; prime with one coatMaxicover roof coat , thinned up to10% with water to aid absorption followed by 2 undiluted coats ofMaxicover roof roof COATPage4 of6 SURFACE PREPARATIONNEW SURFACESC ement and Fibre Cement roof Tiles (new) For very porous/slightly friable/chalky cement tiles and all fibre cement tiles.
Prime withDulux Bonding Liquid and overcoat within 48 hours with 2 coatsMaxicover and Fibre Cement roof Tiles (weathered, unpainted) To remove dust, debris and chalky residue from cement roof tiles, wash the entire roofarea using high-pressure washing, using a rotating nozzle at a pressure between 150and 200 bar. Alternatively, scrub the entire roof area with a bristle brush, using waterfrom a garden hose. Old, weathered fibre cement is porous and may encourage the growth of fungus. Scrubthese areas with either of the following solutions: 25% chlorine solution and water or 25%sodium hypochlorite and water solution.
