Advantages of MECTHENE PU MECTHENETM PU contains a specially developed stabilizer package which protects against acid formation. Controlling acid formation in PU foaming systems is necessary to avoid foam discoloration (scorch) especially with flame retarded systems and reduction in amine catalytic activity MECTHENE PU contains a lubricant which allows usage on state of the art Polyurethane metering and mixing equipment, protecting high pressure pumps from damage and thus extending their lifetime.

MECTHENE PU can be used with most types of Polyols ( Conventional Polyols, High Resilience Poyols, Copolymer Polyols and Autocatalytic Polyols). Only minor formulation changes, to increase stability of the rising foam are required to facilitate the use of MECTHENE PU. Compared to using liquid CO2 as an auxiliary blowing agent MECTHENE PU is easier to handle and gives a wider processing latitude (hardness: density ratios). MECTHENE PU can also be used as a solvent for cleaning the foam mix-head.

Information relating to the environment, health and safety The MECTHENE PU molecule ( Methylene Chloride CH2Cl2 ) is a well known and well studied molecules who s chemical, environmental and health and safety properties are well understood. MECTHENE PU does not destroy the ozone layer. It s impact on global warming and acid rain is considered negligible and is Biologically degradable in the environment. It is important to train personnel in the safe handling, storage and disposal of MECTHENE PU and to instruct them in standard safety procedures.

For further health and safety details, please refer to the safety data sheet for MECTHEN PU. Your local Dow office or distributor will be pleased to provide you with any further information. How to use MECTHENE PU Formulations containing up to 30 php MECHTENE PU have been run commercially to produce foams with very low densities and harnesses. Due to the cell opening effect of MECTHENE PU slightly higher levels of Stannous Octoate catalyst and Silicone are required to stabilize the rising foam.

The amount of MECTHENE PU used will depend upon the required foam hardness and density and other foam formulation parameters employed water level.
