1 Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Sugar land Pre- operative instructions FOLLOW THESE instructions AS THEY ARE FOR YOUR SAFETY AND COMFORT. The Morning of Your Procedure: You may bathe or shower the morning of your procedure. You may brush your teeth and rinse your mouth with water or mouthwash. If you wear glasses or contacts, please bring a case for them. Wear comfortable clothes. A family member/other must remain at facility with the patient. Arrange for a responsible adult to drive and stay with you for 24 hours after Surgery . No taxi/Uber service allowed unless accompanied by a responsible adult. Be sure to bring your driver s license or picture ID, insurance card, and a source of payment in case you have a copay due. If you have a Medical Power of Attorney, bring papers with you.
2 If you use an inhaler or insulin, please bring it with you. If you normally use a CPAP machine for sleep apnea, please bring it with you. Notify your doctor if you experience any health changes such as fever, cough, or cold. Take only medications as instructed per your doctor or nurse with a small sip of water before 6am. If the patient is a child, please bring extra diapers, bottle, favorite toy, or blanket. You may want to bring a pillow or blanket for your comfort during the ride home. Arrive at the time instructed by your doctor or pre-admission nurse. If you are running late, please call our main number. (281-238-1600, choose Option 6 for Pre-Op) A late arrival may result in your procedure bring rescheduled. Discontinue weight loss medication until after your procedure.
3 Please DO NOT Do not eat or drink anything after midnight. Be sure not to swallow any water. No gum, mints, or ice chips. Please do not use any perfume, lotion, powder or any eye make-up (false lashes, mascara, shadow, etc.). Do not bring any jewelry or valuables with you. Please remove all metal clips and hairpins. Special instructions : Follow specific prep instructions given by your doctor. Patients on blood thinners, please follow your cardiologist/PCP/Surgeon s instructions .
