1 MISSISSIPPI STREET ROD ASSOCIATION Fellow STREET Rodders: The MISSISSIPPI STREET Rod ASSOCIATION is proud to announce that the 36th annual edition of Dixie Run will be held March 21-23, 2014. Dixie Run 36 is a pre 49, STREET rod only event. Once again, the MISSISSIPPI STREET Rod ASSOCIATION is bucking the trend and keeping it Old School . We re STREET rodders, and are keeping the Dixie Run tradition alive as a pre- 49 STREET rod only event for our fellow STREET rodders. Car Shows are nice, and there are plenty of good ones around, but you can t beat an old fashioned pre- 49 three day ROD RUN !

2 ! On Saturday 22 we will be auctioning off a 1932 Ford Roadster donated by Jack Brown. All proceeds will be donated to Hederman Cancel Center at Baptist Medical Center The new and exciting location debuted last year in Pearl, Ms., just across the river on the east side of Jackson and has been selected again for the site of the premier, oldest STREET rod event in MISSISSIPPI . The City of Pearl has enthusiastically welcomed MSRA and Dixie Run last year. They put their efforts into establishing a new home for Dixie Run which should carry it well into the future. As a result, MSRA and Pearl s city officials have joined with the new Holiday Inn Hotel and Trustmark Park, home of the MISSISSIPPI Braves baseball club, to again host the 2013 STREET rod spectacular.

3 Last year, 163 STREET Rods from eight states attended, and they all said they d be back and bring someone with them . Area attractions include the Bass Pro Shop next door and a huge Sam s Club store just down the STREET . Restaurants of every description are within two blocks of the hotel. There is a very nice restaurant in the hotel lobby which will be serving a breakfast buffet every day, but if you choose to drive, you will find Ryan s, Logan s Roadhouse, Cracker Barrel, O Charley s, Los Parillos, El Charro, Shoney s, Waffle House, plus all the fast food regulars, within blocks of the hotel.

4 A huge new outlet mall has begun construction next door to the Holiday Inn. When completed, this new mall will have over 100 outlet stores, most of which will be unique name brand stores not previously available in central MISSISSIPPI . Some may possibly be open by Dixie Run time in March, but this new mall will definitely be an exciting place to shop in future years while attending Dixie Run. Dixie Run kicks off Friday, March 21 with registration at the Holiday Inn beginning at 2 Then at 6 across the STREET at Trustmark Park Stadium, there will be a BBQ supper for early arriving entrants.

5 The best BBQ beef, chicken and sausage you ever ate will be cooked up on our grille on site. MSRA club members will be serving you a full barbeque meal with beans, chips, desserts and drinks. Bring your lawn chair or sit in the spacious stadium. On Saturday, March 22, registration continues at 8 Across the STREET games will begin in the stadium paring lot. With the added space the stadium parking lot provides, we will be able to have some driving games, similar to the ones we used to have back in the day at the old Holiday Inn location in Jackson. Another very popular feature returning this year will be the big swap meet with all sorts of STREET rod items, from parts to complete cars on hand, on the north end of the stadium parking lot.

6 Last year s swap meet was the largest ever held at Dixie Run with vendors from all over the south. At 1 across the STREET back at the Hotel, the popular ladies tea will be held. We ll even shuttle you across the STREET if you d like. Ladies, come to the tea wearing your favorite big hat and join the girls fun. Other games and activities will go on throughout the day in the stadium parking lot. Registration packets will contain Dixie Dollars. Plus, each time you play a game, you will be given additional Dixie Dollars play money. This money can be used to bid on door prizes at an auction Saturday night in the ballroom of the hotel (another thing we used to do in years past).

7 Sunday morning, March 23, weather permitting, we ll have a devotional service and give out awards outdoors across the STREET at the stadium. The top ten rods and rodder s choice will receive trophies at this time. Having this outdoors will let us drive the winning cars past for all to see as the awards are handed out. Then the drawing for the grand prize, a new 350 Chevy crate motor will be held. You must be present with your STREET rod to win. If it rains, we ll give out awards and grand prizes in the Hotel ballroom. Directions to Dixie Run: Coming from Jackson on I 20, take exit 47B to Flowood, then east on 80 to first left on Bass Pro Drive.

8 Coming form the east, take exit 48, then north to Riverwind Drive, turn west and follow Riverwind to the Holiday Inn at Trustmark Park. So make your plans now to come join us. For room reservations, Call the Holiday Inn at 601 939-5238 as listed on the attached flyer. Be sure to mention the code car show to get into the block of rooms reserved at the $85 rate. Make your reservations prior to March 1, please. When the Holiday Inn is full, reservations at the same rate will be available at the Hilton Garden Inn next door. Contact them at 601 933-1174. We at MSRA are very excited about the second year of this new look to an old event.

9 Last year s event, with its record crowd, beautiful weather and a weekend of STREET rod fun will be hard to top in 2014. But it is the goal and intent of our club to make this year s event just as successful.
