Today we re going to hear some more about Joseph s Give each child a Joseph figure to Have the children fold the figures in half then open them the children apply glue to the inside, then fold it closed overthe end of the craft stick.

4 Cut out and color the pictures from the copy of ReproduciblePage a rolled piece of tape on the back of the felt board figuresand Roll the black piece of construction paper into a cylinder andtape the ends into SlaveryPlace the Joseph figure on the felt board. Do you remember whothis is? Yes, it s Joseph . Place Jacob on the felt board. And who isthis? Yes, it s Jacob, Joseph s father. Do you remember what pre-sent Jacob gave to Joseph ? Yes, he gave him a colorful coat on the felt Joseph s brothers on the felt board.

5 Who are these men?Yes, they are Joseph s brothers. In our last story Joseph told hisbrothers that he had a dream that he would be greater than made his brothers angry with day, after Joseph had his dreams, Jacob told Joseph to goto find his brothers who were watching the sheep (Genesis 37:12-14). When Joseph s brothers saw him coming they rememberedthat they were angry with him. They were so angry that when hearrived they took Joseph s coat from him and put Joseph in a hole(Genesis 37:18-24). Remove Joseph s coat and place him in theblack cylinder.

6 Do you think it was kind of his brothers to do that?No. But God loved Joseph and he was watching over a group of men came by with their camels. Place the menand camels on the felt were going to a town nearby tosell some things. Joseph s brothers were still so angry that theydecided to sell Joseph to the group of men! But God was watchingover Joseph (Genesis 37:25-28). Remove Joseph s brothers andfather from the felt the men got to the town they sold Joseph to a rich manto be his servant. Place the picture of Potiphar s house on the rich man s name was Potiphar.

God helped Joseph do a great job working for liked Joseph so much that he put him in charge of all of hisland, his house and all of his other servants (Genesis 39:1-4). Tell the child you will lead himaround the obstacle course and that he can trust you, that youwon t let anything happen to Walk the child around the boxes in the obstacle course and thenback to the Choose another child to be blindfolded and a different child tobe the Give each child a turn as a leader and as a follower.

10 As the chil-dren are taking turns sing He s Got the Whole World from theUnit 16 Song each child how they felt as they were being led while they wereblindfolded. Was it scary? Was it hard to trust that the person wouldkeep you safe? Was it hard that you couldn t see where you weregoing? Who was taking care of you? (God)This is how Joseph must have felt. He knew his brothers weremad at him and that they had thrown him into a cistern. But he didnot know what was going to happen to him. All he knew was thatGod would take care of him.
