5 Parish Mission Statement Brush up on your Bible, it prevents truth decay! 22ND sunday IN ordinary time 4 STEWARDSHIP SHARING time , TALENT AND TREASURE Parish FINANCIAL INFORMATION On August 27, 2017 , the sunday collection totaled $12, and the Parish Fund collection totaled $2, Thank you for your generosity to Mother of Divine Providence ! Dear Friends, Even for those who have been Catholic for a very long time , today s Gospel is difficult. Take up the cross and follow the Lord. This is an invitation to sacrifice in imitation of Jesus. Jesus asks us what profit is there in gaining the whole world if we forfeit our life. The psalm reflects our feelings as we confront this generous invitation to Calvary: My soul is thirsting for you, O Lord my God. As we go forth from the Church today, reflect on the Gospel when you get home. May your heart be warmed by the fact that we are reading this together, praying and supporting one another in our efforts to get to heaven.

6 Our summer intern, Francesco has returned to Saint Charles Seminary for a new year of academics. I am grateful for his work in our Parish ; it is truly a tremendous help in my pastoral ministry. He will still be coming to our Parish through the academic year on Thursdays, accompanied by another seminarian. They will work in our school, continue visiting the homebound and assisting in our Adult Faith Formation programs. Go in peace and may you contribute to the building of God s Kingdom, in your home, your workplace and in your neighborhood!
