FROM OUR PASTOR Dear Friends, We are summoned to our Church today to continue with God our Christmas Celebration. Matthew s Gospel makes it clear that even from the very beginning Jesus came to save all people. And so the Church presents us with the Magi, which have always represented the peoples of the whole world, making their way to Jesus humble birthplace. Some interesting details to ponder: Isaiah mentions only gold and frankincense among the gifts that come from all nations.

8 It is Matthew who adds the gift of myrrh, the symbol of the future passion and death of the new born Messiah. The Magi also must consult the revelation of the Scripture to find Jesus. They cannot do it alone! This is a good lesson for us this morning. Continue then on your journey of faith to discover Christ manifested in ever-new ways and don t be afraid to tell others about want you have discovered. Watching the star rise in the life of our parish, Father Cioppi IN OUR PARISH CURIOUS ABOUT BECOMING CATHOLIC? If you are curious about the Catholic faith, please give us a call! We are a warm and welcoming community always excited to grow and share our faith with new members. Call the parish office at 610-265-4178 to speak with a member of the clergy, or call Lauren Joyce to set up a time to sit in on one of our new Catholic faith classes. 027 MDP for 010415 5 HELP SUPPORT THE RCIA!

9 As new members of our parish prepare for their baptism at Easter, there are several ways you can help! We ask the parish to support our ministry with their prayers, by warmly welcoming our RCIA members at the 9:30am Mass, by sponsoring our brunch on a Sunday morning (egg bake or bagels for 6), or by hosting us for a pizza dinner on a Friday in Lent. For more info or to sign up, contact Lauren Joyce: 610-337-2173. VOLUNTEERS WANTED: CHILDREN S LITURGY OF THE WORD Do you love children, and have a passion for God s Word? Volunteers are needed to help run the Children s Liturgy of the Word at the 9:30am Mass on Sundays. Each volunteer is assigned once a month to lead a small class of 5 - 7 year olds in a discussion of what the readings are about that week. This is a perfect ministry for parents with elementary-aged children, since your children can help you as you teach!

10 Please contact Lauren Joyce to volunteer: 610-337-2173. MDP YOUNG ADULTS GROUP (Ages 20-39) Our next monthly lunch will be on Sunday, January 4. Please meet us outside the back of the Church after 9:30 Mass (for this month only!). On Saturday, January 10, we will be joining the Parish for the Why Catholic Retreat. Please contact Brandon Ritrovato at to RSVP or for more information. FOR THE SICK As you pray this week please remember those in our community and families who are in need of our prayers for God s healing touch, especially: Roz Cirino, Jocelyn Dillon, Kelly Gomes, Kalynn Cole, Mary Munro, Bob DeSpirito, Luca Vincent Russo, Michael Wusinick & Marie Callan. FOR THE DECEASED Please also remember those who have died in the hope of rising again, and for those who mourn their passing and are in need of God s healing and strength: Helen Johnson & Clare Donahue.
