5 MSDN Platforms Licensing: Dev, test, eval Perpetual use rights No up or down renewals No special programs (MPN, BizSpark, etc) MSDN Platforms FAQ 1) What Team Foundation Server (TFS) capabilities come with MSDN Platforms ? MSDN Platforms comes with a TFS CAL, so all the functionality you get by purchasing a TFS CAL is included. Additional functionality such as agile planning, requesting feedback, and test case management - are not included with MSDN Platforms ; these are reserved for Visual Studio Test Professional with MSDN, Visual Studio Premium with MSDN, and Visual Studio Ultimate with MSDN subscribers.

6 2) Why is Office for Dev/Test not included with MSDN Platforms ? We believe the primary Office scenario is SharePoint, which is included the subscription in addition to all other Office servers. MSDN Platforms is also a depth sales motion, and many of the customers will already have Office licensing through their EA. Customers that require Office can select to purchase Visual Studio Premium with MSDN. 3) What s the difference between MSDN Platforms and TechNet? TechNet is geared for IT Pros that evaluate software, while MSDN Platforms is for IT Pros that are involved in the software development process, such as setting up development and testing environments, replicating customer issues in a non-production environment, and have considerably more expansive usage rights.

7 More details can be found on the difference between MDSN and TechNet Subscriptions on the MSDN Subscriptions website. 4) Is MSDN Platforms a perpetual or non-perpetual subscription? MSDN Platforms is a perpetual subscription, like all other MSDN subscriptions. If the VL program through which the license was purchased is a perpetual program (such as EA, Select, Select Plus, or Open Value), then the licensed user can continue using the software even after the subscription expires and is not renewed. 5) Is Windows Azure included with MSDN Platforms ? We re working on adding Windows Azure to the subscription, date TBD.

8 MSDN Platforms subscribers will receive the same Window Azure benefits as Visual Studio Premium with MSDN subscriptions.
