Davlynn HannahHolloway was born at 3:32 PM and weighed 4 oz.
3 Dillon Justin Holloway was born at 3:37 PMand weighed 6 lbs. 4oz. The labor was amazinglyeasy and went very well. MaryAnn says it was theeasiest labor so far. It only took about 15 minutesfrom start to finish. The babies are both doing well. Dillon had sometrouble breathing at first and had to be in the NICU,but by that night was doing fine. They were able tocome home with us on Thursday. Our family hasbeen put on quarantine for about 6 weeks, but thatis well worth it so that the babies can be home and Sydney are loving being bigsisters. They are being good helpers, too. We arestill trying to get Sydney to remember their names,she calls Dillon the blue baby and Davlynn the pinkbaby.
4 She just loves being a big sister. We have enclosed a picture of Kaylie holdingDillon and Sydney holding Davlynn. Thanks to all ofyou for your support and concern! We are veryexcited that the babies are finally here!Justin and MaryAnn HollowayH Diamond Cattle Falls, IDPage makes a good cattle show? I am surethat we all have different ideas about the answer tothat question centering, more or less, on howwell our animals do in the ring. From my per-spective, there are several other things that make aMurray Grey show a good show . Let me sharethese with three major things that are needed tomake a good Murray Grey show are: for everyanimal exhibited to be a good ambassador for thebreed, when cattle are sold as a result of being ondisplay, and for the bonds of commonality ofpurpose, shared goals and friendships to bestrengthened by the time exhibitors spend these three criteria, the Murray Grey show atthe Ohio Beef Expo in March was a was absolutely exciting for me, to see thesound, functional, structurally correct cattle that theexhibitors brought to Columbus.
5 Each of theanimals was a good representative of the breed,even though there were different types of cattlepresented. Not a single exhibitor had to apologizefor any of the animals on display. It was electrifyingto watch the judge place each class and to hear hersay that third and fourth place animals were simply too good to stand third and fourth . It was greatgood fun to be sitting in the stands and to hearpeople from outside our breed commenting on howgood all of the animals in each class show is successful when a significantnumber of animals change hands during the exhibi-tion.
6 Exhibitors sold several animals during theExpo, establishing a new herd in Eastern Kentucky,reactivating a dormant herd and moving geneticsinto several existing AMGA herds. When breedersare impressed enough with the cattle against whichthey are competing to purchase those cattle, thenwe are seeing the right kind of cattle on maybe most importantly from my per-spective, a most successful show is one where ourmembers work, talk, play and laugh together andleave the show with very positive feelings towardother exhibitors. This is not always easy but itmay be becoming a hallmark of Murray Greyshows, if the last year is any indication of exhibitors, exhibitors returning after a severalyear hiatus and old stalwarts all worked together topresent our breed in the best possible light tocattlemen attending the Expo.
7 There was an excitinglevel of camaraderie throughout the entire weekendthat bodes well for the new Eastern Murray way I see it, all of the exhibitors at theOhio Beef Expo deserve a hearty Well Done! andthe Murray Grey breed came out the overall winnerat this particular show. Let s all work together, tomake sure that every Murray Grey show during2006 is every bit as successful as was the Ohio BeefExpo Grey Tide is rising in the East!The Way I See ItBy: John Gerow, Executive 2 California Junior Scores Big with MG X SteerFrancesca Burratto of the Rockin B Ranch, SantaRosa, California gave Northern California cattle producersa good look at how Murray Greys can improve nativecattle.
8 The AMGA Junior stood 5th in the Sonoma Countybred class and took 6th place in the 100 head s steer was out of a Rockin BHereford cow and was sired by Eagles Run Bravo 95J,out of Kris & Diana Anderson s Eagles Run Ranch ofLivermore, CA. Francesca s MG X steer just made thelive weight cut of 1250 pounds, but graded Choice, withan impressive REA. As a counter point, her Herefordsteer which took Reserve Grand Champion, only gradedSelect and had an over abundance of external congratulates Francesca on her great2005 outing!Juniors are the future of our breed and AGMA wouldlike to highlight all of our Juniors and their MurrayGrey accomplishments.

For those of you who have not yetrenewed your AMGA dues, we have included amembership application with this issue of the Murray GreyNews. Don t let this be the last issue that you dues are $50. Junior dues are $10 per calves born in calendar year 2006 and beyond willneed to have parent verification supplied at application forregistration. Call or email if you have Sires must have DNA on file with the Associationbefore calves resulting from AI can be registered.
10 AfterJuly 1, 2006 we will not be able to register AI calvesunless there is DNA for the sire on file. (Blood or DNAidentification is required for bulls drawn before January1,1999.) If you are buying or selling semen, please makesure that the proper documentation is on file. Bulls drawnafter January 1, 1999 must have a negative a-mannosidosis test result on file if the semen is sold outsidethe herd of BreedPlan data will be downloaded later on inJune. If you have not submitted all of your data, please doso ASAP. You want the most up to date information onyour Herd EPD BreedPlan EPDs will be calculated as EPDs inpounds, rather than as EBVs in kilos as done will notice a slight increase in the EPD values on yourHerd Reports.
