2 A Block Building Works A block classroom renovations and the Administration refurbishment are taking place over the SCHOOL holidays. The SCHOOL grounds will be out of bounds during this time. Administration will relocate to the Library area for the first few weeks of Term 1. We appreciate your patience during this time. 3 REMEMBER- EVERY DAY COUNTS! Final Farewells I wish to thank all our SCHOOL community for the support provided to our staff and students throughout the year. Tuesday 05 December we celebrate our Year 6 students Graduation ceremony with special achievement awards. For the organisation of the Graduation ceremony, I wish to thank the following: Yvonne and Viv in the office, Mr Conde and Ms Christou our Year 6 teachers and Mr Holloway for set up in the hall, and our year 5 parents for helping with the morning tea. Later that night students, staff and parents will attend the Graduation Dinner at Newstead. Thank you to our Year 6 parents for their organisation of this event: Michelle Logan, Kim Middleton and Sonda Barney.

4 Thank you also to our 2018 P&C executive for an incredibly successful year which included fundraising with the fete, hats and heals, trivia night, as well as coordinating the various activity groups which run most of the year: swim club, tuckshop, CEP program and hall hiring, uniform shop, banking, garden group and classroom helpers. Congratulations to all parents involved in these groups which raised valuable funds for our artist in resident program, curriculum resources such as reading materials and online math programs, the playground installation, installation of pool hoist for disability access, human relationships education, student participation and more.

5 Thank you so much to each and every one who contributed by financial donations or in-kind support. Thank you to all staff for their contribution to the students and SCHOOL this year. For those staff who are leaving us at the end of this SCHOOL year, thank you and I wish you well in the future. Mrs Kay Bradley is continuing in the Acting Deputy Principal Position while Ms Cassie Buckley continues her leave until the end of term 1 2018. Mr John Rafter will continue as Master Teacher while Mrs Bradley is acting as Deputy. Ms Fatima Zayn Al-Abidin will replace Mr Rafter on class while he is acting as Master Teacher.

6 Mrs Fairley Stanley retires from teaching at the end of 2018 after many years of service at New farm . It is fair to say that Fairley has made a difference to the lives of many children and supported and influenced many of her teaching colleagues. Fairley has been a great mentor to younger teachers and has shared her expertise and knowledge without hesitation. Fairley has been a dedicated teacher and valued staff member. We wish Fairley and her husband all the best for their retirement. Mrs Rachel Smart continues her maternity leave for 2018 spending time with her family. Ms Jan Dickens finishes her contact at the end of this term and I thank her for her valuable work in our SCHOOL .

7 Ms Sonia Ball finishes her contact at the end of this term and will be missed by students in Prep. I welcome Mr Peter Nash to our 2018 staff as he returns to Australia after working for several years in the UK, most recently in the position of Middle Years Coordinator Mathematics. I also welcome Mr Cristian Arredondo to our SCHOOL for 2018. Cristian has worked in Victoria in the middle primary area and more recently in the Wide Bay region in upper primary. Ms Di Scott joins us in Prep for 2018 through our City Cluster professional experience opportunity. Other staff contracts are still being finalised at present and I will keep you informed as I confirm them.

8 Mrs Rachael Siebuhr will begin 2018 with a change of role, taking on the Curriculum Coordinator position 3 days each week. Rachael s role will enable us to consolidate the implementation of the Australian Curriculum and ensure consistency in planning and delivery of subject areas. SCHOOL Watch During the holidays we need you to look out for after-hours crime in our SCHOOL . If you see anything suspicious, please remember to call the SCHOOL Watch number - 13 17 88. If you do see something suspicious, please don't attempt to intervene. Call the SCHOOL Watch number and let the local police to deal with the matter.

9 Pupil Free Days Parents please be aware that staff are involved in pupil free day programs from Wednesday 17 January to Friday 19 January. The Office will be open during this time but appointments for enrolment and interviews will be by appointment only. QParents Thank you to the many parents who have now signed up for QParents, you will be able to access your child s report card via the app this week. If you have not yet applied, I would encourage you to do so at the beginning of the new SCHOOL year. As we progress into 2018, we will be utilising more of the applications available through this app. For help, visit #/help or call 13 QGOV (13 74 68) Message from Jabiru - closed Friday 8 December.

10 Friday is Jabiru s annual cleaning and maintenance day, and as such, we will be closed. There will be no before or after SCHOOL care on Friday. Additionally, we wish to remind our families attending Vacation Care that our Jabiru holiday program will be operating out of the SCHOOL Hall. Please book in to avoid missing out on our great excursions and special events. Remember, families on maximum Childcare Benefit can attend two days for free! Pop in to visit us to see how your child can enjoy a Jabiru Holiday! Report Cards Release The Semester Two student report cards are scheduled to be released in the middle of this week.
