1 NEW MEXICO EMS BUREAU . 2013 NEW MEXICO EMS LICENSE RENEWAL INFORMATION. Check the EMS BUREAU Website for specific renewal year guidance. RENEWAL REMINDERS: Renewal requirements must be completed by December 31st of the year prior to the March 31st license expiration date for example, if your license expires March of 2013, your CE's and refresher requirements must be completed by December 31st, 2012. To assure that you receive your renewed license in a timely manner, please submit your COMPLETE. renewal packet EARLY. You can start sending in complete renewal packets as early as July of the year prior to the expiration of your license. We strongly urge that renewal packets are mailed with a return receipt. If you are completing the CE equivalents (Blueprint Refresher) in lieu of the formal refresher, you are required to complete the Blueprint Documentation Form available on our website in our renewal section. All continuing education MUST be approved by the EMS BUREAU and have a current NM EMS BUREAU issued CE approval number, be a pre-approved course (PHTLS, AMLS, etc), or have received specific approval from the EMS BUREAU .

2 If you applied for and received CE approval for a specific medical, EMS, or college course in which you participated, please submit the approval letter from the EMS BUREAU with your renewal packet. If you received this approval via an email, a print out of that communication will suffice. You can also view the current NM EMS CE Guide on the EMS. BUREAU website to see all CE guidelines. The pre-approved course list is posted on the EMS BUREAU website under Continuing Education. A maximum of twelve (12) hours of CE credit from a CECBEMS accredited and/or EMS BUREAU approved distance/distributive learning program may be applied toward the CE requirement. A. maximum of ten (10) hours of distance/distributive CE credit may be applied toward a refresher course blueprint. A distance/distributive learning program includes ANY online training, live streaming video, web presentations, or other types of online education; it also includes articles, video CE's, and any other education not received through an in-person non-web based classroom setting.

3 This provision does not apply to refresher courses sponsored by EMS. BUREAU approved training institutions. Individuals pursuing new levels of licensure must maintain their current level of licensure until they have received their new level license. If your license expires before completing testing for the higher level, you will be denied any further state testing. An individual wishing to drop down a level in licensure (for example, from EMT-Intermediate to EMT-Basic) must complete the renewal requirements for the licensure level to which they are seeking licensure. Make a copy of your entire renewal packet for your records prior to submitting it to the EMS BUREAU . If you do not complete all your renewal requirements before December 31st of the year prior to your expiration, you will need to complete the Re-entry process once your license expires in March. If you feel you have extenuating circumstances and may qualify for a waiver, you may request a waiver from the EMS Licensing Commission.

If your agency is submitting your renewal packet you need to retain copies for your own records and record the date of your renewal submission. 1 NEW MEXICO EMS BUREAU . BLS CPR Training must be from an EMS BUREAU approved provider level course: Your healthcare provider level CPR card needs to be current at time of renewal. CPR courses that are taught strictly on line (without a practical hands on component) will not be accepted. Blended CPR Courses must have proof of skills evaluation from an approved evaluator.
