2 Auckland War Memorial Museum: Walk and talk with our local guides as they share their passion and insider knowledge about our most famous collections including the large voyaging waka, our traditional meeting house, and New Zealand s unique birds. After visiting the Auckland War Memorial Museum, the tour continues to Parnell Village. The historic buildings of Parnell have been transformed into a trendy shopping area featuring a range of boutiques, craft and specialty stores. The tour will then take you along the scenic waterfront route of Tamaki Drive and ends with a trip back along the waterfront. Auckland Paihia (Bay of Islands) (approximately 4 hours driving time) Follow State Highway 1 up through the Northern Gateway Toll Rd, a shortcut that consists of a wide stretch of motorway and a tunnel through the hill.

3 Make your way through Whangarei, Northland's largest city. Head up SH1 to Kawakawa, a small-town famous for its decorative toilets. The last works of renowned Austrian-born artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser, Kawakawa's toilets are truly a sight to see. From Kawakawa it's a short drive to Paihia. Bay of Islands In the beautiful Bay of Islands you can take a boat cruise, swim with dolphins, dive, fish or just relax in the sun. Be sure to visit Waitangi Treaty Grounds, one of New Zealand 's most significant historic sites. Day 3 Tuesday, Bay of Islands/Auckland Breakfast at the hotel. Overnight: Auckland Hole in the Rock Dolphin Cruise: Set off on a half-day Bay of Islands cruise in search of dolphins and other marine life. Enjoy the views from our catamaran Dolphin Seeker as we journey right to the end of the Cape Brett Peninsula, to the famous Hole in the Rock on Motukokako Island.

4 Travel through the famous Hole in the Rock (weather permitting). Waitangi Treaty Grounds: The Waitangi Treaty Grounds is New Zealand s most important historic site where in 1840 New Zealand s founding document was signed: the Treaty of Waitangi. The Treaty Grounds features the Treaty House, the carved Meeting House and the world s largest ceremonial war canoe. Learn about the history, discover the stories, personalities and events that shaped New Zealand . The guided tour takes you through the artefacts gallery, past the world s largest ceremonial war canoe to the Flagpole, the Treaty House and the carved Meeting House. Paihia Auckland (approximately 4 hours driving time) Make your way back via Kawakawa, Whangarei and Warkworth to Auckland. 5 Day 4 - Wednesday, Auckland/Rotorua Breakfast at the hotel. Overnight: Rotorua Auckland Waitomo (approximately 3 hours driving time). Travel south over the Bombay Hills and through the Waikato, a dairy, thoroughbred and agricultural area, to Waitomo Caves. Waitomo Glowworm Caves: Your guided tour will take you through over 250 metres of stunning underground scenery commencing with the impressive Cathedral. Your tour begins at the upper entrance of the cave and proceeds along a low narrow passage to the Tomo, a deep limestone shaft. Your experienced tour guide will deliver a highly informative commentary about the formations and the history of the area. The highlight of your tour is an unrivalled boat trip through the spectacular Glowworm Grotto. Waitomo Rotorua (approximately 2 hours driving time). Travel across the Waikato River and the Mamaku Hills to the famous geothermal centre of Rotorua.

Discover 18 sparkling lakes, magnificent native and exotic forests, geysers, boiling mud pools, hot springs and the best of New Zealand 's fascinating Maori culture. Mitai Maori Village: Mitai Maori Village welcomes guests with the arrival of the maori war canoe. Within the village, guests are entertained with the performing dances of the maori that include the poi and of course war cries of the haka. Rainbow Springs is a stunning kiwi wildlife park where you can get up close and personal with all of NZ s favourite native birds and lizards, including the kiwi and tuatara. Te Puia Daytime Experience: Te Puia is New Zealand s living Maori cultural centre, located just 5 minutes from central Rotorua. Situated in the Whakarewarewa Geothermal Valley, Te Puia s 60 hectare site is home to the New Zealand Maori Arts and Crafts Institute, a live kiwi enclosure, the world-famous Pohutu Geyser, and more than 500 geothermal wonders. 8 Your tour starts with a drive through the picturesque 1,250 acre sheep farm with spectacular views across to the Kaimai Ranges. Your guide will escort you through the twelve acre site recounting fascinating details of how the Hobbiton Movie set was created. The Hobbit holes, Green Dragon Inn, Mill and other structures created for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films can be viewed and you will see how this beautiful piece of Waikato farmland was transformed into The Shire from Middle-Earth.
