Thank you to everybody who contributed to the success of the Green Leek Cricket match last night. It was lovely to see the children enjoying their matches in such a lovely setting that gives them a real taste of playing on a proper pitch. Thank you to the Burton Green team who played well in a finely balanced game. Whilst All Saints took the honours this time it was great to see sport being used to bring our federation together. Finally thank you to everybody who enabled us to run out of burgers and hot dogs and supported the fundraising. Have a lovely half term break. We return on Monday 5th june . Our next Celebration Assembly is on Thursday 8th june . Class News Maple: We have been measuring how much our broad beans have grown and have been learning about the different parts of a plant.

2 Cedar: We have enjoyed writing our own adventure stories in Literacy and have been doubling and halving and reading scales in Maths. Damson: This week we have entered King Tut s survived. Also, we have been calculating with fractions. Oak: We have been costing out our enterprise projects in Numeracy. We have been debating topics showing speaking and listening skills in Literacy and in our topic work we have begun researching Norfolk in preparation for our Kingswood residential visit. Security Alert We have received a security alert from Warwickshire Country Council regarding scooters being stolen off school sites. If you do ride your scooter to school and leave it in the bike shed please make sure you bring a lock to secure it to the posts. ADMISSIONS 2017 We have vacancies for September in Years 4 and 5. Please do not hesitate to ring Mrs Patterson if you are interested in any of these.

3 ADMISSIONS 2018 I would like to invite parents of children who are due to start school in September 2018 to visit the school on our: OPEN DAYS Join Mrs Patterson on a guided tour around the school in a small group, with the opportunity to ask any questions that you might have. 28th june 2017 29th june 2017 Please ring 02476464130 to reserve your place. Green Leek Residential to France 2018 We are already beginning to plan our residential visit to France in 2018. Wyvern Travel are holding a provisional booking for us for 8th- 12th July 2018. The introductory evening for parents and children in current Years 4 and 5 will be on Monday 19th june 2017, at 7pm at All Saints . To aid your forward planning reservations, deposits of 60 will need to be received by Friday 7th July. We are unable to reserve a place for any child without receipt of the deposit. Sun Safety Please ensure your child has sun cream on before school and a water bottle and sun hat with them when it is warm and sunny.

4 They can also bring in sun cream to top up at lunchtime. Sainsburys Vouchers Please send in any Sainsburys vouchers to the school office so that they can be counted. Green Leek in Action Important aspects of our Green Leek Federation are to enable children and staff to work together to widen their experiences, develop new skills and to grow in self-confidence and self-esteem. We endeavour to enable every year group to experience a different activity together. Next half term: Reception Visit the Gurdwara Our Reception children will be visiting the Gurdwara in Leamington together on 20th june in the morning. Reception Shared Wellie Wednesday 11th July (Yes it is Tuesday) Last year the den building on the new land was enjoyed as much by the adults as the children. If you would like to come along to help our shared Wellie Wednesday at Burton Green please contact the school office.

5 Year 1 Multi Skills Sporting Day Tuesday 11th July Sport is a fantastic way to make and grow new friends. Our multi skills day for Year 1 also gives our Year 6 children the opportunity to plan and lead activities for the younger children from both schools. Year 5 & 6 Team Building and Challenge Day Wednesday 7th june Prior to our residential visit we are arranging a day for all of the children in Years 5 and 6 to get to know each other a little better through team building activities and sport. This will take place at All Saints. Children will need a packed lunch on this day and their sports kit. Green Leek Residentials Kingswood 11th 16th june 2017 France 8th -12th July 2018 Friends of Burton Green Making a difference! Next meeting 14th june at 8pm. The Virgins & Castle in Kenilworth. All welcome. Dads Night Out 8pm at Hickory Smokehouse on the last Thursday of the month including summer holidays and in between Christmas and New Year All Dads welcome Mums Night Out 8pm at the Queen and Castle on the 15th june All Mums welcome Summer Fayre Friday 7th July Hold the date to join all the fun of the fayre!

6 Green Leek 10K 2017 October 8th Plans are well underway for our second run. In order to make this event a regular and sustainable in the long term we are keen to involve as many families in both our schools as possible. You don t have to be a runner to help in the organisation. You are welcome at the next planning meeting on 5th june at in The Hub. 7 On Tuesday, 23rd May, our regular meeting Coffee, Cakes and Computer will start with a short talk about Facebook and Twitter. After this discussion we shall also be available to help with your other technology questions. We meet at 3pm in the Village Hall, Burton Green. Meetings normally take place on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month. The following meeting will therefore take place on Tuesday 13th june .
