V:\FORMS\ Newspapers FICTITIOUS BUSINESS NAME STATEMENT PUBLICATION REQUIREMENTS The California Business and Professions Code requires that Fictitious Business Name Statements be published as follows: Statements must be published once a week, for 4 consecutive weeks in a newspaper of General circulation in the county where the fictitious business name was filed.
4 Publication must begin within 30 days of the date of filing the Statement. If registrant has no place of business in this State, the notice must be published in a newspaper of General circulation in Sacramento County. An affidavit of publication must be filed with the Business License Section within 30 days of completion of the publication (the affidavit is normally sent to our office by the newspaper --you may want to confirm that the paper you choose provides this service). If you are renewing a previous statement and there are no changes, the Statement does not need to be published.
