3 Perkins Career and Technical Education Act, last reauthorized in 2006. The legislation provides Funding for job training and related pro-grams for high school and postsecondary school students. Major Funding for Apprenticeships *The Department of Labor recently an-nounced $150 million in grant money to support approaches to expand apprenticeships on a na-tional scale in key industry sectors. The goal in to accelerate the introduction of apprenticeships to Federal Funding Report August 15, 2018 new industry sectors, and to increase apprentice-ship opportunities for all Americans.

4 Grant funds will go to higher education institutions in part-nership with national industry associations. Pub-lic-private partnerships are required for eligibility. Funding to community Colleges Florence Darlington Technical college , Flo-rence, SC (5,600 students) - $584,274 grant from NSF s Advanced Technological Education (ATE) program to assist community college Hispanic-Serving Institutions nationally.

5 The project will emphasize cultural practices and resources that are critical for the success of underrepresented college students. Madison Area Technical college , Madison, WI (17,463 students) - $395,495 NSF grant to fund activities that will give biology students practical laboratory skills and experience, help them envi-sion various careers, and motivate them to con-tinue their education. _____ On the Home Front Your Career: Tips for Fundraisers The Chronicle of Philanthropy (August 2018) has a number of career suggestions for fundraisers at various stages of their career: Tips for Early-Career Fundraisers: explore beyond your office, volunteer for another organization, join a group of peers to make connections, take advantage of professional development, stick with it even when things gets tough, establish strategies for dealing with stress.

Calhoun community college , Tanner, AL (~10,000 students) - $147,000 grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission to strength-en and expand the college s aerospace welding program by establishing a new welding skills lab at the college s Huntsville/Cummings Research Park campus.

8 college of Southern Maryland, LaPlata, MD (24,651 students) - $20,000 from the Communi-ty Bank of the Chesapeake to support an en-dowment fund and an annual scholarship fund. Cuyahoga community college , Cleveland, OH (31,250 students) - $20,000 award from the AT&T Aspire incentive to support the college s Hispanic Scholarship Fund and create educa-tional opportunities for Hispanic students. MassBay community college , Wellesley, MA (5,276 students) - $25 million from the State of Massachusetts capital needs program toward a new MassBay Health Science Center in Framing-ham, MA.
