1 NS8000 DescriptionFigure 1: NS8000 Series Network Sensor modelsThe NS Series Network Sensors function directlywith Metasys system Field Equipment Controllers(FECs), Metasys Network and Control Engines(NCEs), Advanced Application Field EquipmentController (FACs), Metasys VAV Box EquipmentControllers (CVM) and General Purpose ApplicationControllers (CGM), VAV Modular Assembly (VMA16)Controllers, and Facility Explorer FX-PC SeriesProgrammable Controllers (FX-PCGs, FX-PCVs, andFX-PCXs). The Sensors are also compatible withVerasys and Johnson Controls Smart NS Series Network Sensors monitor zonetemperature, relative humidity (RH), carbon dioxide(CO2), motion, and local temperature setpointadjustments. The sensor transmits this data to acontroller on the Sensor/Actuator (SA) NS Series Network Sensors models include anonboard passive infrared (PIR) occupancy sensorthat detects motion to determine if a space isoccupied. This feature maximizes up to 30% energysavings in high-energy usage environments such asschools, dormitories, offices, hospitals, and hotelsby adjusting the temperature of the space based onthe occupancy status.
2 In addition, the PIR occupancysensor facilitates trending of floor space usage inthese models of the NS Series Network Sensorsare available with a backlit LCD fixed segmentdisplay or a full color graphical LCD interface. Thesemodels allow the user to view zone temperature,RH, CO2, and adjust the zone temperature setpointand fan speed. Graphical models provide asummary of sensor values at the base of the segment models have the capability to set thedefault display to temperature, RH, or user can also choose between degreesFahrenheit (F) and degrees Celsius (C). To preventtampering with the sensor, display models alsoinclude a screen lockout feature. The graphicaldisplay enables the user to choose between a lightor dark color theme and to set the sleep mode todim or turn models also have a Warmer/Cooler interfaceto adjust the zone temperature. All models ship standard withmodular phone jacks and screw terminals toterminate wiring connecting the Sensors to : To connect the NS Series Network Sensorto the same SA bus segment, use only oneof the two connection methods, either themodular phone jack or the screw Network sensor includes a SA bus accessport, allowing for accessories to connect to theSA bus. Through this connector, the user can useaccessories to service or commission the connectedcontroller or gain access to any other controller onthe same field controller (FC) : Device programming for the NS8000sensor connected to the controller does notinclude balancing functionality and NS Series Network Sensors can be surfacemounted or vertical wallbox mounted to meet therequirements of the specific application.
4 All displaymodels are optimized for the California Energy Code(Title 24). To suit specific architectural and interiordesign needs, the models come with either black orwhite enclosures in black or white design themesare available in the following styles: LCD fixed segment and LCD full color graphicaldisplays: view zone temperature, RH, CO2,occupancy status, and adjust the zonetemperature setpoint and fan speed. Thesemodels have the capability to set the defaultdisplay to temperature, RH, or temperaturesetpoint. On these display models, you can alsochoose between degrees Fahrenheit (F) anddegrees Celsius (C). Warmer/Cooler interface: this interfaceincorporates cap touch buttons with seven LEDlights that represent the current setpoint status. No display: the NS Series Network Sensors areavailable in high gloss black or white with orwithout the Johnson Controls logo. All Sensors are serialized for quality and warrantypurposes.
