NYS DEC – Managed Land Access Permit

1 NEW YORK STATE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION Region 1 Headquarters 50 Circle Road, Stony Brook NY 11790 NYS DEC - Managed LAND Access Permit Access to DEC- owned lands in Suffolk County requires an individual to have a NYS DEC - Managed Land Access Permit . Hunting on all DEC- owned lands and DEC Cooperative Hunting Areas in Suffolk County requires a Managed Lands Access Permit and at times a daily Permit . Cooperative Hunting Areas are Managed by the DEC to provide hunting opportunities. Activities other than hunting on Cooperative Hunting Areas, are Managed by the landowner and are not covered by this Permit .

2 This Access Permit must be carried at all times while on the property and a copy of the Managed Land Parking Permit must be visible on the dashboard of your vehicle while you are on the property. Children under 12 do not require a Managed Land Access Permit if accompanied by an adult with an Access Permit . The Permit is free and valid for three years. 3 Permit is valid from two hours before sunrise to two hours after sunset, except bicycling which is sunrise to sunset and night raccoon and fox hunting which is sunset to sunrise. All vehicles must be parked in appropriate designated parking areas with parking Permit visible. Hunters must park at a designated hunter parking spot on properties when provided. Please see for maps of properties with designated parking. For properties that have no designated parking spots, it is the hunter's responsibility to park and Access the property legally.

4 Individually numbered parking sites are to be used only by hunters. Bicyclists, hikers and horseback riders must use specifically designated parking areas. During the January firearm deer season, archery deer hunting and waterfowl hunting are only permitted at designated areas. Please refer to for a listing of designated areas. This Permit is not valid for any other activity during the January firearms deer season on properties where firearms deer hunting is permitted. Please refer to for a listing of properties open to firearms deer hunting. In addition to a NYS DEC - Managed Land Access Permit a valid NYS Sporting License is also required for hunting, trapping, falconry, or fishing.

5 For a list of hunting opportunities please see A daily Access Permit is required for hunting on parts of Rocky Point (north of Rte. 25) and parts of Otis Pike (north of the Long Island Expressway) during November and December. A daily Access Permit is also required for hunting on all applicable properties during the January firearm deer season. Horseback riding is permitted on Rocky Point, Otis Pike and Westhampton only. Horseback Riding is not permitted at Rocky Point or Otis Pike in November and December or at any of the properties during the days of the January firearms deer season.

6 Horseback riding is allowed only on marked trails, except on Otis Pike where only established roads may be used. Bicycling is permitted on Rocky Point, Otis Pike, Edgewood, and Calverton Woods. Bicycling is allowed only on marked bicycling trails, or on only established roads. Bicycling is permitted at Rocky Point and Otis Pike from April 1 through October 31, or as otherwise posted. Edgewood and Calverton are open year round, or as otherwise posted. Cyclists must wear hard-shell helmets and eye protection. A Temporary Revocable Permit (TRP) is required for organized group activities, and activities other than those covered by an individual Access Permit as listed above.

After e-mailing the Permit press the Print Form button and save to your computer. The Print Form button will print both your Access Permit and your parking Permit .

8 After receiving the confirmation e-mail and signing the printed permits, the permits are valid and ready for use.
