NYS Organic Recycling Facilities List

1 1 Wood chips, wood and brush are considered exempt C&D materials under 6 NYCRR Part 360 regulations. When accepted at compost Facilities these materials are often kept separately as chipped wood and are not incorporated into the composting operation. Therefore they are not excluded from this table with one exception. When accepted at biosolids Facilities these materials are usually incorporated into the compost and are therefore included in this table. 2 Confined Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs) may not be subject to NYSDEC solid waste regulations under 6 NYCRR Part 360. If the CAFO is regulated by Part 360, its regulatory status is listed as registered or permitted. 3 Quantity of materials accepted was obtained from 2012 or 2013 annual facility reports. Food scraps are assumed to have a density of 1000 pounds/cubic yard.
