2 It has proven to be of great value in our predominantly Spanish-speakingcommunities, not only for professional translators and interpreters, but also for anyone interpreting forparents where District Terminology is second edition has been updated and revised to reflect the latest changes within the schools andadministrative offices of the District. A ruled section has been added to the bottom of each page forpersonal notes. It is important to point out that this resource uniquely reflects the Terminology used in theLos Angeles Unified School District and that it may not always apply to other school districts. Due to the richness of the Spanish language, the English/Spanish Glossary of LAUSD Terminology , in someinstances, provides its users with several options for translating one specific English term. All options areaccepted as correct and may be used according to the context.

3 The Translations Unit acknowledges thatthere may be acceptable alternatives that are not included in the addition, some terms will have, in one or more of their translation options, the abbreviation (Mex.).These Translations may be more common to Spanish speakers from Mexico than from other Spanish-speaking regions. These Translations may be used when deemed appropriate by the English/Spanish Glossary of LAUSD Terminology also contains two other useful sections. TheCommon Phrases section contains phrases or statements that have been observed repeatedly in thetranslation of documents or have been used during interpretation meetings over the years. This sectioncould be of assistance to many, including non-Spanish-speaking school personnel.
