Page 1 Greetings Brother Knights and Ladies Sisters, Good night, Ethyl, its 2019!!!! Did we really get through another one? This past year was a doozey and we are not finished with the Knight s year quite yet. So, with the courage born of blissful ignorance we will forge ahead with God s work and pray that we can keep doing better. Each and every one of us would do well to remember that this is all being done for heaven points , not for personal gain, fame or enrichment (except that of our souls) and Fr. McGivney is watching and smiling down on us. While I reminisce about the past year, our ups and downs, successes and disappointments, I have to tip my hat and say THANK YOU, ONE AND ALL , for jobs well done, sacrifices made, services rendered, foregoing days and hours off in the name of the Knights of Columbus and Ladies Auxiliary.

2 These are the times when our work of charity takes on a whole new meaning. We could not do all that we do for others if we did not work like a giant well-oiled machine, directed by the hand of God. In opening this New Year, I want to reiterate my call to brotherhood, sisterhood and Catholicism. The virtues that we all exem-plify every time we undertake a task are living proof that we are being guided by a force far bigger than we can imagine. Not preaching here. Just trying to remind everyone that God is working through us and we are doing his bidding. Therefore, we must treat each other and act toward each other as if we really are bound together as actual relatives. We ARE you know! While I begin this Knight s year, I know that the team of officers who have served the Council are exceptional.

3 I have every confidence that they will continue to perform their duties for the common good of the Order. Within this organization, we have the Council , Ladies Auxiliary, Columbus Club and Assembly. Not one of these facets is solely functional and independent. If our success depends on cooperation, it means we are to love each other as God loves us. We cannot allow petty resentment to rule the day. Our meetings must be conducted with openness, care, respect and candor. Every member has an opinion which they are entitled to. However, of late in the year, I watched as some territorial resentment seeped in and began to sow the seeds of self-destruction. If you are witness to this and do nothing to curtail it, you are just as guilty as the person causing the prob-lem. Let s cooperate and find ways of settling differences without doing harm to others in the organization or to the organiza-tion itself.

4 If anyone has a problem they feel should be addressed, bring it to your immediate officers. If they cannot come to a successful conclusion, they can bring the matter to the Council officers. This solution procedure goes for all the facets of our Council , both men and ladies. Lastly, my wish for this upcoming year is to ask of each and every one of you the following: If you were responsible for intro-ducing and encouraging a member to join but they have now fallen away, ask them why. Encourage them to reconsider the promises they made to our charitable organization. We are Christians, and should be doing for others as we do for ourselves. Look around. We are a shrinking, aging group, finding it increasingly more difficult to complete what we once found easy. If the trend continues, we will not be able to sustain our Columbus Hall, nor will we be able to enjoy the many activities that go on there throughout the year, raising funds for those who really need them.

5 Selfishness is a terrible vice that feeds on itself and destroys from within. Let Charity be our guide. Happy New Year! Vivat Jesus! 6 Even though the new Church year begins with Ad-vent we can join in this worldly tradition in the new year too. Let s look at this from a spiritual perspective. Without making our secular lives tooooooo difficult why not make the new year more spiritual. Take up one spiritual thing to add to your prayer life, (I m assuming you all pray). Add one rosary or one extra day a week to attend mass. Don t be so ambitious to the point that you set yourself up for failure. We cannot afford to fail in this life, so we need to be diligent in our prayer lives. Happy New Year. Don t forget you can come pray the Rosary with us every Thursday at 11:00am. 8 We are looking for Volunteers for Feb, March and April. Tom and Anne are doing January, - January 30, 2019 at 5:00pm. Yeah team. $ District Deputy Report for District #22 By George Nichols Greetings from our worthy State Secretary Dale Trott. He sends a message of Merry Christmas and hopes everyone thanked God for saving us so we could spend time with our families and friends. He and his staff wish all a Happy New Year with continued good health and friends, and to remember those that have passed, those that are unable to come home, that they are safe and return home safe and sound. Now to the "good news", we are at the midpoint of the fraternal year and we still need new members, especially the young-er men of our parishes, so they can be trained to become our future leaders.

9 So what does that mean, it means to carry a form 100 with you or be able to explain E-membership to possible candidates, add in the incentive of a $5 discount to their dues if the join in the first week of January. Explain the rationale of Father McGivney starting the Knights of Columbus, to be able to help the widows and children in the future. We are asking for only one night a month and help with special pro-jects during the year. Remember our four words of FAITH, FRATERNALISM, CHARITY and PATRIOTISM. Vivat Jesus George Nichols, DD Page 3 From our Faithful Navigator, Wayne Straight Greetings, Brother Sir Knights, Happy New Year! I can t believe it s 2019. Where is the time going? I want to thank all those who attended our Veterans Christmas Luncheon at Mio Fratello s.

10 Brian and Curtis, thank you for making us all feel at home. This is always one of my favorite events. It s a great way to honor our Veterans. I also want to thank those who braved the cold and rain to place wreaths on the graves of our fallen heroes. We were not alone; we had more participants from the community than in any previous year. We were espe-cially moved when we placed a wreath on the grave of Brother Sir Knight Al Stephens. There s not much coming up this month. Remember to bring in your toiletries and please join us for our Thursday rosary. Before we pray, we all mention spe-cial intentions including the safety and well-being of our troops. Our next meeting is Thursday, January 10th at 6:30. See you then. Happy New and Vivat Jesus, Wayne Special Note from the Editor: 1) If you see an error, please call or e-mail me with the information.
