4 Registered Sex Offender Indicator: None Issuance Requirements for Proof of Identity: In order to obtain any ohio Temporary Instruction Permit Identification Card (TIPIC), Driver License, Commercial Driver License, State of ohio Identification (ID) card, Motorcycle, scooter, or Moped license, the customer must present documents to prove all of the following five elements: (1) Applicant's full legal name shall consist of the applicant's current first (given) name, middle name, and last name (surname) without the use of initials or nicknames; (2) Date of birth; (3) Social Security Number (SSN), if ever assigned; (4) citizenship OR legal presence; and (5) Residential street address in ohio . For details see Age Requirements Under the BMV's Graduated Licensing Program a Temporary Instruction Permit may be granted at age fifteen and one-half.

5 A Probationary License can be issued at age 16, provided the permit is held for a period of 6 months and driver successfully completes vision, written, road and maneuverability examinations, and provides parental verification of 50 hours of driving experience, and completion of an approved driver education course. This license is good until age 21. A CDL may be granted between ages 18 to 21 with completion of testing requirements. A Motorized Bicycle License may be granted at age 14 or older with completion of written, road, and vision testing. A Hardship License may be granted at age 14 to 15 with proof of hardship and approval of the Registrar of Motor Vehicles. A Temporary Instruction Permit is valid for one year. Residency A Non-resident's license is honored on a reciprocal basis; an ohio license must be secured within thirty days of establishing residency.

6 Renewal Driver license renews on the birthday of 4th year. Driver keeps the same DL number when renewing. Military personnel stationed out of ohio can renew by mail every 4 years Elderly-Related Restrictions ohio 's motor vehicle laws currently do not provide for mandatory retesting of elderly drivers. All drivers, regardless of age, are required to pass a vision screening prior to being issued a renewal driver license. Residents of theses counties need to follow a designated emissions testing schedule in order to ensure their vehicles are (and remain) properly registered. Passenger Plate Facts For a majority of motor vehicles, there are two plates, two county stickers, and one validation sticker (MO & YR) and a County Number affixed on the rear plate. Depending on the year issued, the owner's county of residential county name or number will be indicated on the bottom center lower left hand corner of the plate. Plates do not remain with vehicle when sold, instead they remain with seller. Insurance and Financial Responsibility The minimum financial responsibility limits are $25,000/50,000/25,000.

Licensed drivers and vehicle owners must maintain proof of financial responsibility by one of the following: liability insurance; $32,500 surety bond; $30,000 BMV Certificate for money or government bonds in the amount of $30,000 on deposit with the ohio Treasurer; or a certificate of self-insurance that is issued by the ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles. A signed affidavit is a part of the license application. Proof of insurance is required at traffic stops, accident scenes, vehicle inspections, and court appearances for moving violations. SR-22 forms are used. An arresting officer must verify proof of insurance and mark the citation with a yes or no. Individuals unable to provide proof are permitted 30 days to submit proof to the BMV, or driving privileges are suspended.
