1 On Target Two Idaho PITA Newsletter. Issue # 13. June, 2015. Well, lots of shoot results this month! We had the June Multiplex followed by the state shoot at Caldwell June 5 7, and then two day shoots in both Pocatello and Twin Falls. Lots of winners and good scores. June Multiplex. 34 clubs took part and 303 shooters fired at 39,750 registered targets . 3 June 5th 7th, 2015. Caldwell Gun Club. 120 shooters took advantage of three days of very nice weather to register 71,400 targets . This was an increase of about 11% over the previous year. Jim Fultz captured the state singles title over Jeff Scott and Mike Rinard after a tie at 199. Scott took state runner up and Rinard took Vet. Fultz also took the High Over All championship with a fine 770 score. Gail Jones won the doubles championship with 97 and a three way shoot off with Spud Storey who took state runner up and Derek Whipple who took A class. Storey also was the High All Around champion after a tie at 388 with Rinard. Rinard topped the in state scores in the handicap championship with his lone 96.
4 Sub junior Jack Nelson was state runner up with his 95. Durland Fischer of Oregon just missed the rare feat of breaking all 300 program singles targets missing one the last day. Guess which one he missed? (hint it wasn t the first one). Shooters and their guests enjoyed free meals both Friday and Saturday. The state association put on a Pizza party on Friday and the Caldwell Gun Club hosted a pulled pork and/or beef dinner on Saturday. There was also a Texas Hold Em tournament put on by Liz Harris as a fundraiser for the state association. The first hand of the tournament was won with a Royal flush. At the short honors meeting special guests were recognized: PITA past president Dick Siemens.
5 PITA Executive committee Idaho s own Jim Fultz. Members of the PITA Hall of Fame Herb Lehfeldt from Washington, Bob Kennedy and Louise Siemens from Oregon, Marty Devries from California, and Kent Harris from Idaho. 2014 Parent PITA All Star team members Devries, Rosalie Nicholson from Washington, and Fultz and Storey from Idaho. Parent association Idaho HOA team pins were awarded to Storey (AA), Jeff Wright (A), Jeff Scott (B) and Tina Wright (D). The Idaho Double 27 yard personalized buckle was presented to Storey as the 27 yard shooter with the highest total on the preliminary and championship handicaps at both Idaho state shoots in 2014. Storey and Fultz also received their 2014 Parent PITA All Star team pins.
6 A plaque was presented by the state association in recognition of Mike Stears induction into the Idaho Trapshooting Hall of Fame. Chester Carter received his 50,000 Target pin from the PITA. The shooters on the Idaho PITA All Star team for 2014 were recognized and presented with their patches, pins, and certificates. Team members were: Jared March (Junior), Jeff Scott (Vet), Gail Jones (Sr. Vet), Virgil Perry (Elder). Janet Merrill, Leisa Bunce, Lahoma Hooft, Tina Wright, Liz Harris, Dave Poseley, Jeff Poseley, Norm Foster, Spud Storey, Jeff Wright, and Kent Harris. It was the first time on the Idaho team for Jeff and Tina Wright, Storey, Bunce, and March. The state board thanked Kathy Connerley for her efforts on the quilt fundraiser, Charlie Whipple for his donation of the rifle for the raffle, and Liz Harris for her poker tournament fundraiser and help with the dinners.
7 John Booth was also thanked for his many years of work and support of trapshooting in Idaho. The membership was informed that the PITA has a nice personalized pin that is presented to the shooter in each state that shoots the most targets each year. The high in Idaho for 2014 was 11,150 PITA targets . Shooters were reminded to reread pages 28 and 29 in the state shoot program honoring Steve Eichenberger and Dick Stoner and reflect on their contributions to the sport of trapshooting. The meeting closed with a heartfelt thank you to all the out of state shooters in attendance. We had shooters from California, Washington, Nevada, Oregon, and Alaska. Winners and High Scores.
