GENERAL Scope The aim of this Code is to ensure that all dedicated aviation road tankers fitted with selective couplings are compatible and can be loaded ONLY with aviation fuels, and that all aviation receiving points can ONLY accept aviation fuels from the dedicated road tankers . This is achieved by modifications to the Standard bottom filling fittings recommended in OS 6 Operating Standard for Vehicle Bottom Loading and Vapour Recovery, and also the Standard fittings used for top filling. Vehicles should conform to Australian Standard AS2809, Road Tank Vehicles for Dangerous Goods. The following items are covered: - Product selectivity between Avgas and Jet Fuel - Top and bottom loading - Gantry loading valve - Road tanker API valve - Road tanker API to camlock adapter - Female camlock hose end fittings - Discharge Hoses - Male camlock receipt point fittings Description The use of dedicated road tankers for the transport of aviation fuels minimises the risk of product contamination.

5 The installation of selective couplings on the gantry loading arm, on road tankers and at the receiving location eliminates the possibility of product contamination. This Code outlines the changes required to Standard couplings to ensure that only aviation fuels can be loaded into the dedicated aviation road tanker and discharged from the tanker into a receiving point. The changes consist of the addition of "lugs" and "slots" to the Standard couplings. The angle between the lugs and matching slots on the couplings gives product segregation between Avgas and Jet. General Description of Selective Couplings Bottom Loading Arm Coupler This loading arm can be coupled to any vehicle. The slots also allow it to be coupled to a dedicated aviation road tanker. Bottom Loading API Valve on Road Tanker (Connects to ) The two lugs allow only the correct loading arm to be coupled to the road tanker. They prevent any other loading arm from being coupled to the dedicated aviation road tanker. API to Camlock Adaptor (Connects to ) The internal pins prevent the API to Camlock adaptor from being coupled to the outlet of any non-aviation road tanker.

7 A Standard non aviation hose can still be coupled to this adaptor. This flexibility is required to allow for occasions when aviation products are used for non-aviation applications ( Bitumen Cutbacks). THE ANGLE BETWEEN THE LUGS GIVES PRODUCT SELECTIVITY OS-2 Revision: Issue Date: Oct 2013 Page 6 of 11 Review Date: Document Owner: SLP Manager Caution: this document is uncontrolled when printed. Female Dedicated Hose End Coupling (Connects to ) The internal pins in the female dedicated hose end coupling allow connection to the API to Camlock adaptor ( ) and the receipt point male coupling ( ), but prevent connection to a non aviation coupling. Receipt Point Male Coupling (Connects to ) The lug prevents any non aviation coupling from being coupled to this coupling.
