Rolling and striking pedestrians, vehicles, other plant items or property. Park on level ground wherever possible.

3 Turn steering so wheels face up slope or into kerb if parked at kerb. Lower bucket and excavator boom to ground, Stop engine and apply hand brake. Access and Egress ! Danger of falls, trips etc. Use steps provided when alighting. Board and alight using left hand door when possible. Maintain three points of contact at all times Operating Backhoe ! " Changing Backhoe buckets. Loading equipment into front bucket Obtain help moving buckets into position if it cannot be done mechanically. Obtain help to load/unload front bucket. Tie down securely when travelling with equipment in the front bucket Crush risk between the Backhoe arm and the body of the tractor. Crush risk in the front bucket load and tilt mechanisms Crush between the front bucket and a hard surface such as a wall or vehicle Ensure all personnel are clear of the Backhoe when operating Ensure that crush point stickers are attached at crush points Never stand between the Backhoe and a hard surface while the Backhoe is moving Striking of personnel or pedestrians Ensure all personnel and pedestrians are clear of the Backhoe Personnel struck by objects falling from bucket whilst loading truck Ensure all personnel are clear of the Backhoe and truck Mobile Plant !

Clean windows and mirrors as required to ensure good visibility in all conditions Risk of Plant Overturning Do not operate plant across slopes steeper than 1 in 5. Bench slope if necessary. Risk of Collision With Other Plant, Vehicles or pedestrians? Do not reverse unless certain that there are no vehicles, machines or pedestrians behind machine.

5 Use spotter when necessary Keep windows and mirrors clean !" Risk of Contact With Live : Overhead Power Lines? Buried services Do not operate within metres of power lines. Identify and locate all buried services prior to commencing Refer to safe work procedures : SWP 005 Working near Overhead Powerlines SWP 006 Buried Services Lifting Equipment or Materials !" Risk of lifting attachments failure WWL marked on Dipper Arm Check weight of item to be lifted. Use only approved hooks, shackles chains and slings attached to lifting attachment. Check tags to ensure within inspection date Check that lifting attachment weld is not cracked. Risk of load falling Attach rope(s) to steady load if required.
