1 Operations Manager Taft, Louisiana Galata Chemicals is a specialty chemical company manufacturing and marketing additives primarily used in PVC applications around the world. The business has been established for over 40 years with manufacturing and sales globally and became an independent Private Equity owned company in May of 2010. The Taft, LA, site is the hub for manufacturing, logistics, customer care, and technology in the Americas, and will also play a key role in the growth strategy of the company. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and talented individual for the position of Operations Manager at our Taft manufacturing site, located near New Orleans, Louisiana . Job Scope : Full responsibility for leading and directing the activities of 4 Production areas, Utilities and Wastewater Treatment to provide an environmentally sound, safe, healthy and profitable work environment.
2 Oversee and troubleshoot the day to day activities of the productions areas to ensure on-time delivery, production schedules are met, and product quality meets expectations. Lead, direct, train and mentor a total of approximately 50 employees including Operations Specialists, Team Leaders and Operators. Lead improvements in EHS, yields, energy reduction, capacity improvements, on-stream, cycle times, new product introductions, fixed cost reductions, etc. to support business growth. Develop and implement improvements to ensure production capacity is available to achieve sales demand. Be the technical leader (process engineering lead) of various improvement projects. Work with the maintenance and engineering teams to execute productions trials, schedule plant maintenance shutdowns and execute site capital plans. Participate in budget setting, monthly cost tracking, manage spend to budget and forecasting.
3 Establish and monitor performance metrics, and review and follow up on KPI and quality standards. Serves as Operations representative during PHA Management reviews Visible in plant daily and observe employee performance to ensure good work habits and good safety habits are followed Candidate Profile: BS in Chemical Engineering with 10+ years hands-on work experience in a chemical manufacturing facility; prior management experience in a team environment. Strong engineering and technical background with understanding of plant process and product costing Must have strong people leadership and interpersonal skills Working knowledge of batch and continuous chemical process Operations Must have ability to interact with customers, regulatory agencies and corporate personnel Computer literacy, specifically MS Excel and MS access, SAP Professional and engaging; must show an ability to work well in a team environment.
