2 Shall mean the Board of Studies of the School a component of the academic programme, carrying a distinctive code specific credits assigned to examinershall mean an examiner who is not in the employment of theUniversity or its affiliated mean a person admitted to the Schools of the University and its affiliatedinstitutions for any of the academic programmes to which this ORDINANCE is mean Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University shall hold examinations for all such academic programmes as areapproved by the AcademicCouncil and as it may notify from time to time for awardingBachelor s/ Master s degrees, Under- graduate / post - graduate diplomas.

3 As the case maybe, as per the prescribed Schemes of Teaching & Examinations and Syllabi as areapproved by the Academic of the University shall be open to regular students candidates who haveundergone a course of study in the University or an institution/college affiliated to theUniversity, for a period specified for that programme of study in the Scheme of Teaching& Examination and that the Academic Council may allow any other category of candidates to takethe University Examination for any specified academic programme subject to thefulfillment of such conditions as may be laid down by the Academic Council from timeto further, that a student.

4 May be debarred from appearing in the semester-endexamination as provided in Clause 9 of this ORDINANCE or as provided in any otherOrdinance of the CONTENT & Bachelor s/Master s degrees and Under- graduate / post - graduate diploma programmeshall comprise of a number of courses and/or other components as specified in the Schemeof Teaching & Examination and Syllabi of the concerned programme, as are approved bythe Academic Council. Each course shall be assigned a weightage in terms of minimum period required for completion of a programme shall be the programmeduration as specified in the Scheme of Teaching & Examination and Syllabi for theconcerned maximum permissible period for completing a programme for which the prescribedprogramme duration is n semesters, shall be (n + 4) semesters.

5 All the programmerequirements shall have to be completedin (n + 4) (i)A student may be allowed to audit a course(s) not included in the Scheme ofTeaching & Examination, or one of the elective course(s) in the Scheme of Teaching& Examination and Syllabi, which the student is not opting for asa credit course, oras prescribed in clause 14.(ii)The University may ask a student to audit one or more courses, so as to make up anypre-requisite deficiency.(iii) Such audited course(s) shall be shown in the final mark-sheets under a distinct headof Audited Course(s) provided the attendance requirement of the course is dulycertified to have been met by the concerned teacher(s).

6 However, a student shallneither be entitled to any credits for such course(s), nor these shall be considered forthepurposes of declaration of academic year shall be apportioned into two semesters. Each of the two semestersshall be of a working duration of about 21 weeks. There shall be a break of about 2 weeksafter the first semester and a vacation of approximately 6 weeks after the Academic Calendar shall be notified by the University each year, before the start ofAcademic academic break-up of the semesters devoted to instructional work shall be as below:Imparting of instructions and/or laboratory work-17 Weeks(including class tests)Preparatory Leave-01 WeekSemester-end Examination, including Practical/-03 WeeksLaboratory PROGRAMME shall be an Academic Programme Committee in each University School andprogramme-wise Academic Programme Committee(s) in affiliated (i)In the case of Schools of Studies of the University, all the teachers of a School ofStudies shall constitute theAcademic Programme Committee of which the Dean ofthe School shall act as its Chairman.

7 This Committee shall coordinate theimplementation of the courses for optimum utilisation of resources and shall alsotake care of the coordination of the School s programmes with the other programmesrun by the different Schools of the University.(ii) In the case of affiliated institutions, all full time University recognised teachersinvolved in the teaching of a Bachelor s/Master s degree and Under- graduate / post - graduate diploma Programme in an institution shall constitute the AcademicProgramme Committee for that programme. This Committee shall be headed by theDirector/Principal of that institution, or another member of the Committee sonominated by him.

8 This Committee shall coordinate the implementation of thecourses for optimum utilisation of resources and shall also coordinate withProgramme Coordination Committees as constituted by the Academic Programme Committees shall also perform other tasks as assigned to it bythe Board of Studies of the concerned School of the University or by theDirector/Principal of the concerned affiliated Academic Programme Committee shall meet as and when required but at least onceevery semester. The Chairman of the Committee will convene the COORDINATION order to facilitate academic coordination between different institutions running thesame programme, a Programme Coordination Committee may be constitutedby theUniversity, if deemed desirable.

9 The Directors/Principals of all the concerned affiliatedinstitutions shall be members of this Committee. The Committee shall be headed by oneof the Deans of the University/Directors/Principals to be nominated by the Committee shall coordinate the implementation of the academic programme toinclude timely coverage of the courses (syllabus) and uniformity in internalassessment/class tests. The Committee shall also assist in preparation of model questionpapers, if required, prepare guidelines for practical examinations and suggest names forpanels of examiners.

10 The Committee may also suggest any modifications in the syllabus,undertake comprehensive review of syllabi, or draw up draft syllabifor new Registrar shall notify the fees payable by the students for various examinations, afterthe same is approved by the Vice-Chancellor. A student who has not paid the prescribedfees before the start of examinations shall not ordinarily be eligible to appear in theexamination. The Vice-Chancellor may at his discretion allow, in certain cases of genuinehardship, an extension in the last date of payment of fees. The result of such studentsshall, however, be withheld till all the dues are student shall be required to have a minimum attendance of 75% or more in theaggregate of all the courses taken together in a semester, provided that the Dean of theSchool in case of University Schools and Principal/ Director in case of Universitymaintained / affiliated institutes may condone attendance shortage upto 5% for individualstudent for reasons to be recorded.
